We need to ban people driving while impaired.

Hell, they don't even have to be drunk (more like texting). Damned near t-boned a hipster idiot in his shitty little Civic on the way back from lunch today. Looking at his phone, and looked only right before turning left (fucking self absorbed idiot).

The plus side? I know the ABS system in the Land Rover works.

yep when those want to ban or infringe on 2a, i ask why they're not intent on banning alcohol and cell phomes given all the drunk and distracted driving deaths and damage. heck, or even vehicles as that is what is actually doing the hitting and running over. bottom line is 'they' don't like guns, don't have gun's and will never depend on guns to save their lives, so it's no big deal if guns go away. booze and phones, on the other hand...

Cars in the hands of civilians are not a danger to the statists, tyrants and anyone who wishes to rule with absolute power. Guns are. Skilled shooters? Even more so. No dystopian government bans the sale/ownership of cars. "Political power grows from the barrel of a gun"...not "Political power grows from the windows of a car".

How does one defined impaired? Texting and driving should be illegal in all 50. What about people that wear earphones while driving? I call that impaired.

The reason alcohol is not included in the same discussion as guns is because alcohol is not evil. Even though many, many more people die from alcohol every year than guns.

They want to ban guns but allow DUI drivers to continue, its truly fucked up.

Because DUI drivers gives them the excuse to do unconstitutional roadblocks for "public safety" that they can then use to search for anything they like, or just show the "citizens" who has the boot to their neck.

I bet the antis and nanny-staters all harbor wishes that we gunnies would die from alcohol poisoning as fast as possible.

Alcohol is not a danger to those who want to restrict peoples' rights. Neither are cars. Drinking 10 gallons of whiskey a day is not going to hurt anyone except the drinker. You can only go so fast and so far in a car. Guns? A person can use a gun to kill a criminal or a tyrant's enforcer. A whole ideology of nationalism and freedom can be spun around a gun. And THAT is what makes it so dangerous and scary...to the antis that is.

I long wondered how to reduce people who drive impaired, or suspended. If laws were changed so that any person cited for impaired driving or driving suspended automatically has the vehicle impounded, then they get a hearing on the impound within 24 hours so they can't say they didn't get due process. If found to have been suspended or impaired, the vehicle is sold at auction and a clear title is given with the sale. So the whoever used to own the vehicle would still have the old debt if any existed, just no vehicle.

If this were the case, people would keep a much tighter fist on their keys rather than allowing boyfriend, girlfriend, relative, or friend to "borrow" their vehicle. The only way out would be for the vehicle owner to press UUMV charges against the driver and to follow those charges through trial.

You can tell all you need to know about a politician by their stance on guns.

While we are on the drinking subject. Have you noticed that the drink driving campaigns have worked. We have less duis due to people drinking less or using uber/car pooling.
Not good for the statists/DUI lawyers/cops etc. Now we have "buzzed driving is drunk driving", efforts to lower the bac from 08 to 05 and DUI per se. Which is complete bs

Just remember, while you are all lusting after using the government to harshly go after somebody because they supposedly did something that you felt all up in arms about, that same government will before long be doing the same to gun owners unless things change somehow.

Drive a LandRover huh? Can’t hide money! Lmao!

I have a good buddy that is a safe driver. Family man. Hard worker. Pays taxes so those that don't can eat. Yet one Thanksgiving he got stopped on the way home a block away. Mads and the court has fucked his life up so bad it's not even real. I don't condone what he did but man! There is so many horrible persons out there not excluding government that deserve it more. My advice to Mads is this...you will make sense when your kids come back due to your Vengeance gratification is gone.

A lot of good peoples lives are ruined on BS traffic stops. All cops are is a clean up crew after the fact, and road pirates. The people got by just fine for thousands of years before our "heros" in blue came on the scene.

The founder of MADD left because fhey got so radical. That's the problem with all these organizations. If they are successful they would lose all their funding/jobs. So madd is trying to make any alcohol a DUI. Kinda like the NRA benefits from anti gun laws/politicians

What is impaired? Whatever the officer decides it to be.
I think it is too vague and subjective the way it can be applied here in Arizona.
One beer? Impaired, arrested.
Tired from a double shift? Impaired.
Almost any reason you give an overzealous cop as to why he stopped you? Impaired.

No one wants drunk drivers on the road.
But the unintended application of a seemingly good idea makes the “impaired” statutes dangeoursly problematic.

LOL! Yeah, it has hill descent control (which did actually come in handy when coming over a sharp rise on the Montana prairie, where the long nose of the vehicle prevents being able to see what your heading down on). That being said, yes, it has gone quite a few places it was intended to go, despite most of them here in SoCal being more "Mall Wheel drive" vehicles. Even the dealer commented on it when it went in for service "Man, you certainly ran this thing offroad. It took our techs a while to get all the mud off the drive train to perform the service. But that's cool though, 'cause around here people rarely use them for what they were designed for. The guys in the back got a kick out looking at the scratches, drag marks and pulling brush out of the underside. It's nice to see someone not afraid to take a vehicle like this off road."

I have to say, I was fairly impressed with how it handled trundling across the open prairie for a week (though I did manage to crack that rear skid plate due to the shallow ingress/egress angles; again, due to the long nose and tail of the vehicle). It isn't a Jeep, so it doesn't offroad as well as I'd like, but it's a damned sight more comfortable when driving from San Diego to Montana (essentially from the southern border, to almost the northern border).

There is the answer to anyone who is wondering how they will enforce magazine bans, AWB, etc... There is no need to go door to door or dig up 4473's. One seemingly random traffic stop: "Sir, do you have any weapons on you? Mind if I search your car?"

Or it can be from some other random bullshit like a noise complaint from a neighbor or an administrative code violation regarding your property. God forbid there is a kitchen fire and the FD has to be called.

For the rest of us, all the law banning the items have to do is exist. Just there. As a constant reminder that those certain items in our possession are ticking time bombs, just waiting for the opportune time to go off and incriminate us, to fuck with our minds.

And dont forget, all those "noise complaints" will be anonymous.

And that’s when shit will be planted to give them cause to search your vehicle. I’ve seen it first hand.

All they got to do is say that they "smelled" marijuana and wrinkle their noses a bit. If you challenge their claims right there in the street they might just give you hickory shampoo, which translates to even more reasons to search your shit.

Man it would seem that most if not all of you missed my "obvious" point.
If laws prevented something from happening, (being that Driving Impaired is illegal) then how did this happen? I guess the metaphor was not so glaringly obvious.

Oh my goodness...I so totally did not see that...how unthoughtfull of me...by the way...it's time for you.

Disposal plastic douche bottles, pour your drink into it and squirt it in your ass. You still get drunk and if you get stopped at a check point the breathalyzer will read zero as long as the officer doesn't stick it in your ass.

Actually, a breathalyzer would still pick up alcohol from ass chugging. Lungs receive 100% of the cardiac output, and the alcohol diffuses into the alveoli

If you're shoving alcohol up your ass you may want to rethink your hobbies...
