We Talk About barrel gas port size... What about gas block size?

Random walk around the block pondering...

Within normal specs for DI/ gas gun setups, is it always the case that a gas block's port opening is equal to or greater than the barrel's gas port.

I assume yes, for obvious reasons , but was curious if that's ever not been the case. I'm thinking primarily about AR systems...

Now that all mine are 100% suppressed, I converted my gasblocks to vented setscrew reduced gasports. Buy a vented setscrew, thread the gasport hole in the gasblock to 10-32, insert gastube, screw in vented setscrew, adjust buffer weight till it locks on empty mag. I have most of mine in the .055-.06" range for midlength gas. The setscrew comes .05" standard and works really well with carbine gas length. I can use a standard buffer and spring with no gas to face. The carbine length gas gets an H1.

I know why Black River Tactical went away from this system because they could make so much more money charging $60 for a $10 gastube that they drill to your specs. I am sure they had issues with nonmechanical people struggling to tap a predrilled hole and installing a vented setscrew.
