From the book, We Were Soldiers Once, and Young, the movie.
I know it's been out a while, but, just once can't they make an entire movie that is true, all the way through it, not just bits and pieces.
There are mounds of after action reports, books, survivors, and gallantry, more than enough to fill a couple of hours of movie film with the battle of LZ Xray, and let's not forget LZ Albany.
Mel Gibson's ending made me want to upchuck, also.

There, now I feel better, meds will help the rest.

Re: We Were Soldiers Once-

Not sure about how true to life it was (never having read the book) but after Ryan and BoB (and possibly others...FMJ for example?), WWSO - indeed most films of this genre - lack "gritty realism" and suffer as a result.
