Sheridan, WY – May 28th, 2025. In the summer of 2023, Weatherby introduced the Model 307™ action. This new action was designed to complement the historic Mark V® and Vanguard® lineups by offering a new platform that was value-rich, innovative, and could accommodate a wide variety of after-market accessories. Since the launch of Model 307, Weatherby has released several rifle models, but today they released the Alpine ST, which features a carbon fiber stock and spiral fluted barrel for just $1,999.

    About the Model 307 Action

The Model 307 is a 2-lug design equipped with an M-16 style extractor for smooth and reliable cycling. The bolt has a unique tool-less disassembly feature that makes it easy to break down for cleaning and field maintenance. The action’s cylindrical design accommodates Stiller/Savage® scope mounts and is threaded for 8-40 screws. The action's footprint is compatible with Rem® 700 aftermarket parts.

    Peak 44 Bastion Stock

The Peak 44 Bastion was built out of necessity and engineered to be the lightest and strongest vertical grip carbon fiber stock on the market. Weighing in at just 24 oz, the Bastion utilizes aerospace materials that have incredible strength-to-weight ratios. The forend features dual sling studs to allow the shooter multiple options when deciding on accessories. This upgraded stock allows shooters to comfortably and accurately shoot from all positions at the range and in the field.

    Spiral Fluted Barrel and Bolt

Both the barrel and bolt of the Alpine ST are spiral-fluted to reduce weight, improve heat dissipation, and give the rifle a great look.

    Shorter Barrel Lengths

The Alpine ST line features shorter barrels on Weatherby Magnum Calibers. Most barrels will be 2” shorter than traditional offerings (excluding 6.5-300).

    TriggerTech Trigger

TriggerTech’s trigger provides a true zero-creep break and is externally adjustable down to 2.5 lbs. Precision-cut stainless steel components ensure consistent trigger pulls from shot to shot in a safe, reliable, and corrosion-resistant package.

    Accubrake ST™

The Alpine ST comes with a radial muzzle brake engineered to reduce felt recoil by up to 53%. All models are conveniently threaded with 1/2x28 threads.

    14 Chamberings Available

Available in standard short and long actions, the Alpine ST offers some of Weatherby’s historic magnum cartridges but is also available in some of the most popular cartridges on the market.

    Short Action: 6.5 CM, 22 CM, 25 CM, 6.5 PRC, 308 Win,

    Long Action: 257 WBY, 6.5 WBY RPM, 6.5-300 WBY, 280 AI, 7mm PRC, 7mm BC, 300 Win, 300 PRC, 300 WBY

    Okay Ad Lib Time,

We had a 307 for a while where and these are great rifles, and in 65CM they have a magazine, so you can use it as production rifle.

I put a APA Micro on it and make you can really control this rifle. Chris was doing a bunch of off hand, no support but a sling work with it, and things were great all around with this rifle

Savage scope rail with 700 footprint.

Weatherby always made solid stuff but these specs indicate company is out of touch with reality.
Respectfully have to disagree with this. Its a 6 lbs 5oz hunter rig thats running a vertical grip carbon fiber stock using AICS mags, a TriggerTech trigger, and has a threaded barrel that is 2" shorter than standard offerings (which is clearly the trend in rifles right now due to suppressors becoming popular with hunters). I'd say they are listening to the market as closely as possible while still making a 6lb gun.

So what if it uses savage bases? While not r700 prolific, its not like they are rare.

Edit to get the weights right, the Weatherby is 6.3 lbs, not 6lbs 3 oz. So more like 6 lbs 5oz.

Compare this to the carbon fiber Springfield Waypoint. The carbon waypoint weighs 7lb 10oz. You do get some additional features on the waypoint though, such as adjustable stock. But still with the features the Weatherby has in that weight class, looks good to me.

What a rifle like this needs is a super-light suppressor. The biggest problem with light rifles is recoil. Adding a muzzle break helps substantially with recoil, while making the gun miserably loud to shoot. For me, the biggest benefit of a suppressor on a rifle like this is the recoil reduction, not the noise reduction.

Do k length cans provide similar recoil reduction as full size cans, just more loudly? Or are the recoil benefits reduced also? If the recoil advantages remain, someone should make a 3oz titanium suppressor rated for like 2 rounds a minute for one minute lol. That focuses mostly on recoil reduction with sound reduction secondary. Maybe I'm describing K-cans, idk never owned one?

    lop half inch too short
Easier to make LOP longer but a bitch to make them shorter. However, one of my pet peeves are rifle manf who use a unique proprietary butt pad that eliminates the owners ability to adjust LOP by simply swapping different thicknesses of standard pads like Kick-eez and Pachmayr.

To me, this right here is fucked up and too many rifle/chassis manf do this crap.
