Weatherby Sub-MOA

Re: Weatherby Sub-MOA

They come with a target that shows you the group andI think they are the high end of the vanguard series. Everybody shoots customs or remington rifle due to so many aftermarket parts.

Re: Weatherby Sub-MOA

The Weatherby Vanguards come from Japan as barreled actions. After assembly they are test fired for accuracy and the targets are shipped with the barreled actions. On arrival in California all the ones that tested under MOA they are given a fancier stock and floor plate with the MOA engraving. They are not built any differently from the others, they just happen to shoot better than the rest.

The MOA designation was another way for Weatherby to charge extra. The practice of giving a different stock for the barreled actions that shoot under MOA has been in practice, but Weatherby never called them as such until someone in their company came up with the idea to add bling to the sub MOA guns and add another 2 to 3 hundred dollars to the price for the cost of the new floor plate.

Brilliant...

I owned a sub MOA designated Vanguard (target provided) with the fancier stock as the current ones, sans the bling floor plate, in 300 Win Mag. It is indeed a sub MOA with FGMM, but hates TSXs. Could not get it shoot the TXs no matter what I did with the load.
