    I am looking for a weatherproof pouch to strap on the webbing loops on the outside of my pack to hold my large binoculars. I have found any number of regular cordura type pouches that will work. Like the one in the link below, it would be perfect:


    but nothing that looks like it'll keep the water out if I get caught walking out in the rain, which happens often.

    Anyone have any suggestions?
     
    Yeah, nothing made of woven nylon is going to be weather-proof. It will shed some water, but if submerged or caught in a heavy down pour, it will soak in after a little while. You're best bet is either using Ziplocs or purchase commercially available dry-bags. I've used several different brands over the years, they all work well, even the cheaper ones. I've also used Ziplocs with great success. Your binos should be waterproof and sealed, but I do know how annoying it is when trying to look through optics with little water droplets all over the lens.
