Anyone have one of these? Trying to compare to a SS 1x4 T reticle to throw on my 7.62x39 AR. It looks interesting on paper but haven't seen much feedback.

Thanks, Skeeter

Re: Weaver 1x5 Tactical CIRT scope

They don't have matching turrets which is a big reason why they aren't more popular. The SS is going to be a better scope, and the Vortex is also better when the price is taken into account.

Don't know how I missed the turret issue! Thanks for that input. So now between the SS and the Vortex, which one? The SS will be FFP but I have been liking the Vortex reticles for their sharpness.

Re: Weaver 1x5 Tactical CIRT scope

I might have a misunderstanding here, but the CIRT reticle is a BDC reticle, this means the hash marks are at specific distances to match the ballistic drop of M855 ammo.

So given that situation, what does it matter whether the turrets are in MOA or MIL? I guess what I'm thinking is that the reticle is not in MOA or MIL, it is a BDC, so what does it matter?

I'm asking because I too am interested in this scope for my AR platform, but if there is something I'm missing here I'd appreciate further clarification, thank you.

Don't know how any one can come to the conclusion that the SS and the PST would be a better scope unless they have actual experience with all three.

The SS, made in Japan (a good thing)

The Weaver, made in Japan, likely the very same factory. I would think that both are made at light optical.

Viper PST, made in the Philippines.

To the OP, no, it does not matter what increments the adjustments are in. As you have noted, it is a BDC reticle, not a ranging reticle. Although you can range with it, considering the application for this type of scope, ranging isn't really an issue.

Your biggest issue will be to figure out the holdovers with the trajectory of your cartridge, since it is not the cartridge that the reticle was designed for.

MUCH easier to do with a mil or moa reticle, as you can plug that into JBM to get your holdovers (close enough with the 7.62x39)
