How important is weight sorting on 338 lapua brass?

I have been sorting into two grain lots just the same as I would for .308. My question is, that brass is so much heavier than .308 that it seems like I could sort into a wider range and still have similarly grouped internal volume as a two grain sort on .308.

What saith the hide?

Never weighed any brass and wouldn't waste the time. Use good brass and load it. Spend the time shooting and it will do more for your accuracy.

Sorting by weight ranks as the second biggest waste of time for me. 1st biggest is checking concentricity/loading for contrencricity

I took my first box of Lapua 338 and grouped it into two batches, in the beginning.

After cleaning that first cycle, I never went back to fiddling with it. I've weighed stuff for kicks, but since I'm not a hardcore competitor and just a hack, I can find better ways to spend my time.

Re: Weight sorting, how important?

Case weight is only partly related to case volume, other factors apply. Weighing brass addresses only one of those factors, and is not reliable as a means of managing case capacity.
