Chicago, has been a dump longer than I've been alive. Use to have to go there in the 50's-70s and hated every minute of it do to the high asshole factor, of the sack dragging cops, and gangs they let run wild. Long past time to sweep & mop that dump,...

When you are ran via criminals (much like this whole country) you get what you settle for,...

I lived in the area for roughly 10 years. Half while in Undergrad school, the other half working for 5 years in the general area. While I was always "situationally aware" when in the city, I never feared walking around the city and in general "touristy" areas. There were neighborhoods where I would not travel to for any reason (Marquette Park, Englewood, Ashburn, etc.), but I generally did not fear walking about the high traffic areas (Water Tower Place, downtown, along the Chicago RIver, near Marina City, even near the Museum of Science & Industry on the South Side, etc.).I never feared riding around the actual "loop" on the EL.

Sadly, I cannot say the same, these days. :(

Yes they are afraid he will succeed in drastically reducing crime , and then their house of mirrors will be broken .
And we may even find out writing billions in traffic fines and dui check points don’t do anything to reduce or solve crime. Then what ?

Cook County is MASSIVE and largely suburban/rural. It basically goes from North of Joliette most of the way to the Wisconsin border, and from Indiana all the way out to Bartlett in the sticks. Crime statistics are calculated by County, which is why the crime statistics are so wrong and skewed for Chicago. If The City of Chicago was it's own county the crime would be among the worst on planet earth. This is precisely why a city like St. Louis is always at the top of crime with an urban population of under 300K with an area smaller than a township in Cook County. All the crime is in the urban area, and even then concentrated in a few, dangerous places. If crime statistics were done by MSAs (metropolitan survey areas) places like Chicago and LA would always be at the top of the list. They are done by County intentionally to hide the crime in the statistics.

This is just as much bullshit as the Democrats trying to point to high crime cities in Red States where the entire muni goverment is 100% made up of Democrats. It's not that the left really "benefits" from high crime, it's that their critical theory system of random morality based on power structures causes them to side with criminals most of the time, because generally economic success reduces crime, and their policies are crafted to keep everyone as poor as possible, which is a result of their socialist/communist economic ideology.

That's the same in EVERY dangerous city in the world.

Crime still happens in the "nice" "tourist" areas, even if you don't see it or are scared. Its not real, until you have to deal with it. People who claim they never feared anything in an area is just ignorance. You are 1/1000000 Sample size.

The likelihood of you getting into some shit is obviously worse in some areas but generally if you aren't in the drug trade, aren't hanging around the corners or looking like a juicy target, you don't have anything to worry about. The violent crime is 95% gang violence.

Declare the gangs domestic terrorist groups and use the power of the federal government and military to crush them. Its really not a hard problem to solve. Make narcotics distribution punishable by death.

We hear "politicians" and the local "police departments" saying stuff like this, it's pretty obvious that "the crime" is only the symptom and not the actual root problem.

The actual "root problem" is staring any intelligent open eyes person right in the face.

At least Trump is trying to do a little something about it, which is nice and all but trying to work on the symptom while not getting rid of the actual problem isn't going to be a long term solution or have too much long term effect.

It's just you know, not yet time for the good folks (whoever might be left and still have some fortitude) to be able to fix the actual root problem(s)...

But it is nice that the actual root problems seem to show you exactly what they are and where they are... something about lists...

Yep, change the wording in the law and most B/S would get corrected by many people on the spot. However, that funds no money for the Just-Us system via the taxpayer's pocket, which they can dip into anytime they want for "The Good of the Public". They are in fact nothing but fucking thieves, like those they pretend to chase,...

Or, maybe.... just maybe...they have the tools and situational awareness to avoid having to deal with it. Maybe they position themselves in a way that suggests to would be criminals not to FAFO. Those types of criminals are searching for easy marks of which they can take advantage. I had some try with me but they were unsuccessful. Still, I did not fear them. I just knew what I had to do to avoid the situation.

And that was part of my success. Not looking like a "Juicy target." This was especially true in the Subway tunnels, etc. Chicago has a few of them, believe it or not. One can cross underneath the tracks from the "State Street" trains to the "Jefferson Park" trains at certain stops (or you could... not so much now as the stations have changed). I actually witnessed the "easy marks" being jacked in those tunnels. Never happened to me. I radiated FAFO! All I'm saying is, these days, that's not enough. Criminals are so desperate, they'll try anything/anyone. Best to just avoid the AO, alltogether.

The violent crime is 95% gang violence.

But they're branching out to other areas where there are easier marks. And that means, regular people are now affected on their own home turf.
The "Latin Kings" were a huge street gang in my own Chicago neighborhood. But, as long as you didn't appear to be a target to them, they didn't treat you like one. Times are tough now. They treat everyone like one.

Declare the gangs domestic terrorist groups and use the power of the federal government and military to crush them. Its really not a hard problem to solve.

I have no problem with that. The Military might have some problems (due to "Posse Comitatus"). But there could be work arounds for it.

Make narcotics distribution punishable by death.

Only if they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the given distribution caused actual deaths. If the authority is able to intercept it prior to it hitting the streets (and resulting in death), then they should get life without parole.

I remember living in Downers Grove around 1979-80s.

We used to go to the city all the time. My first night there we were in a seedy part of town and a bar fight spilled into the streets causing a small riot. Folks bouncing cars and what not. Within minutes Chicago PD was at four corners of the riot with water cannons. One cop “superior” stepped out and told everybody what was what and you could hear a pin drop. One guy ran his mouth, that guy went to jail.

End of riot.

One time I hitchhiked to a biker swap meet in the city. Walking to my final destination I ask two you black kids directions. After giving me directions they said I should not go down that way because “those folks are racist”. Well being the long haired hippy I was I said “fuck that. I’m not racist”. As I headed down through and I suddenly was in a sea of black folk on a busy street. My long blonde hair and swedish white skin made me stick out like a sore thumb.

All eyes were on me as I passed through. About half way I started to realized my error but I didn’t show it and moved through like I had a hall pass. No one bothered me but I learned a lesson that day.

The city was different then.

My 1st college roommate was from Westmont.

Probably when RIchard Brzeczek was Superintendent (and O'Grady before him), Jane Byrne was mayor by then, but still... I recall the night Harold Washington won as mayor over Byrne. I kept hearing the chants of the crowd "Brzeczek must go!,..... Brzeczek must go!" He resigned the next morning before Washington could fire him.

Was that the "Englewood" neighborhood (i.e. where the "Amish" are concentrated)? And were you on your way to either Marquette Park or Ashburn? If you were destined for Marquette Park or Ashburn, You must have walked right down Western Ave. It's the dividing line between Englewood and Marquette Park neighborhoods. it's probably why they told you not to travel that way. It's where the "Neo-Nazis" hang out. They're the ones that attempted to march in the Village of Skokie, which has a sizeable Jewish Populaiton. That's mostly Marquette Park. Ashburn (just to the Southwest of Marquette Pk) does have some decent folks there but you can't afford to risk it.

Like I say, radiate a FAFO persona and they won't bother you. Well, back then they wouldn't.

The city was different then.

Very different.

I have worked in the area a couple times usually at night. The first time I thought it was maybe fireworks but quickly learned it was gun shots. Every night and random times pop pop pop.... Another thing that stuck me was the difference between the south and noth side. Money everywhere on the north side BMW's Mercedes suvs not the cheap ones either. Fancy strip malls everything was very nice.

Weeeellllllllll, not quite. Cook County is massive, yes. But not that massive.

To the north, there is "Lake" County, which does go to the Wisconsin border. The street Lake-Cook Road is the dividing line. To the North there are the towns of Deerfield, Libertyville, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Waukeegan, Zion, (Gary Coleman was born in Zion) etc, Joliet is in Will County. There is also DuPage county to the North of Will County (Oak Brook, Downer's Grove, Naperville, etc.). Bartlett is part of Cook County, but barely,

I agree with the sentiment against the dems trying to paint red states as bad when it;s the blue cities inside the red states BS!

Hell if I know. It was over 40 years ago but the racist neighborhood was all black.

I was a long haired hippie with a headband carrying a set of motorcycle handlebars. I kept a very neutral peaceful persona. FAFO would likely have gotten my throat cut. I just acted like I had a hall pass and probably everyone thought I did. Either that or they thought I was one flew over the cuckoo nest…..

I had a black neighbor who was really cool. He was a clean cut young businessman. We’d jump in his car and go to all black parties in Gary Indiana. I’d be the only glow in the dark white dude at the party. They were good folks. Again it was so different back then. The black chicks gave me a lot of attention but they were hot and thin back then. I look at black chicks today and I’m like what the fuck. They all look like oversized, black fat ticks.

In that case, Englewood, most likely. One learns very carefully about neighborhood boundaries, on what side you should stay and what time of day. One of the biggest neighborhood boundaries was "Western Ave..." the boundary between Englewood ("Amish" side), and Marquette Park (Neo-Nazi side). And both sides knew never to cross that boundary in either direction, after dark.

I don't think black women have that market "cornered" these days. If our beloved @Dirty D has taught us anything... :ROFLMAO:
