After hunting a wonderful farm in Hocking Hills Oh for the past 8 years... and getting it totally set up and perfect for our annual trek, we just found out it has been sold and we may not be able to hunt it! Leaving us with public land...

Anyone here know of some private land we can get permission to deer hunt on around the Hocking Hills of OH? Be three of us, all highly-seasoned hunters.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Hocking Hills?
Back in the day (1981) I was in the CCC and worked out of the Zaleski Camp.
Such a beautiful area.
Haven't been in that area at all since 91/92 or so, when I went to Shade to pick up my niece and nephew.

I'm about 30 miles north of hocking if I hear anything in the next few days I'll let you know running short on time for deer/gun season. I don't know where you were staying down there but you might call some of the cabin rental places see if they they know or have a place to hunt. I think some do stay and hunt too convenient? Did you contact the new owner?

we are at the Hocking Hills cabins... we book the same one every year. New owner is a non-starter. Unfortunately.

I understand about them selling the place. But they sold it in the spring. And just told me today. That sucks. If they had told me in the spring... I was out there twice this summer. I could have gone door knocking or lined something up. Now... we're trying! Couple of guys here, including @MarinePMI have been awesome trying to help. So working it.

30 Miles North is a great area... so if anything comes up, let us know! Trying for some areas in Chilicothe, Logan... There is stuff out there. Just little or not time to set it up. Now. Would have been so easy months ago, methinks. And it's amazing how many people out there owe me favors or who I have done stuff for who are now going "who, me?" Never heard of you...

Well, no surprise!

Worst case, I'll drop coin on a one-week lease and figure out next year.. next year. Or hunt public land. And hope I survive.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I tried the public land once during gun season. I lasted about an hour after sunrise and crawled back out of the woods. That was back in the shotgun only days.
I hunt private land now and still don't go during gun season.

Open to lots of options... out place was next to a public area. One year we counted 200 shots between dawn and 10! It is like the first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan!
Thanks bro a bunch of great guys who have helped with leads!!

this year, we are tied to Hocking Hills cabins. But will be doing a major effort for next year to secure a new spot, even if it means new lodging!

thanks again guys. You all are the best!

I'm in licking county if you are not opposed to that I'll check also we are usually in the top counties in Ohio.
Licking county would definitely be in range or a place we could start working on for next year. I used to bird hunt out there when I lived In Marysville. Got my only double on partridge ever in Licking co.

cheers, Sirhr

sorry to hear it, man. I just found out that the property neighboring my hunting spot was just sold, and there will be a whole slew of people right there. Opening day will tell how bad the situation has become, but I'm pessimistic.

I’m in a club called hunting sports plus. Google it! I’ve been in it for long time. They have many tracts of land all over 7 states in the Midwest. Any kind of hunting you want to do, they have it. Went to northern Missourri last yr and killed nice 10 first day. I’ve mostly turkey, pheasant and quail hunted in Kansas over my years in the club.

There's NO people like Snipers Hide People!!!!

A ton of you guys sent in PM's, made introductions... rattled the bushes and called your buddies. We found a neat gun shop we have to visit thanks to @MarinePMI, got some other great leads!

But @Spooky68 came through in spades with an Army buddy of his and former long range shooter who we're meeting up with to hunt his land and a neighboring state forest. It could not be more perfect setup!!! We are completely psyched!!!!

This place is simply the best!

Thanks everyone... pictures from Ohio, Guaranteed! It's going to be an awesome week with old friends... and some new ones!!!!

Cheers,

Sirhr
