Went to buy 1, an IWI Baby Eagle 9mm steel and ended up buying 2 more, he offered them at a price I couldn't pass up.
I bought.......
Armalite AR-30 chambered in .338 Lapua
- Vortex PST-624F1-A 6-24 x50FFP EBR-1 MOA w/Level (Original Box and Accessories included)
- 30 min American Defense Scope mount for extreme long range.
- Magpul PRS butt stock
- ALLIED PRECISION ARMS bipod with cant adjuster
Pelican 1750 Case

And a shot 1 time Daniel Defense DDM4 V4 with MAgpul MBUS sights and case.

Found a place in VA that teaches long distance shooting and I'm going to travel to them and get some education on how to do it right from the start.

About 4 months ago I bought a Remington 700 5R mil-spec in stainless and topped it with a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15X56 NF ultra light 30mm rings and a NF 20moa base. Haven't got to play with it yet, still reading and trying to learn, hence the class I'm going to go take. If I don't feel I learned enough in their day class I'll then take their 2 day class.

I want to learn to shoot long and I want to learn everything the proper way. AT 54 years old I'm starting very late in life, but it is what it is, right?
Peace.

Bang Steel is the name of it. Heard of it?

I was just up this past weekend for the Guardian match, and am going back on May 31st for another match. Great place and Dan Newberry will certainly get you squared away!

Where in NC are you located we have some awesome places to get your LR fix. There is DMM match at Woody's on Saturday if you want to come by and see what a match looks like.

Also, we have two excellent rimfire precision matches in the state as a low cost training opportunity:

I haven't shot a match there yet but went to it with a friend for a day of shooting. Its a nice place to shoot and east yo get to. I haven't attended one of their classes but Dan was nice and easy to get along with. Its not always available since it is a working cattle farm and when they are open it gets crowded. I wish it was open more since its about 45 minutes away from the house!
Hopefully something a little more available will be open soon. Maybe around the Bristol, south holston lake area??

I'm in Smithfield, right near you. I'd like to see the Woodys match. CAn you pm me details please? Thanks.

I tried to send you a PM but either your Inbox is full or you've turned off PM's (or the site is being wonky). If you can, pleas shoot me an email at [email protected] I'll be happy to to get you the details to come visit the match.

Woody's is located at 960 Christian Chapel Church Rd, New Hill NC

http://woodysmatch.com/location

The match starts about 8am and runs until 4pm. This match utilizes a "tee time" format where you have an assigned start time. There are 5 stages you shoot in sequence and it typically takes about 2 hours to complete the course.

There will be a good amount of traffic around the property Sat and you will actually drive in past 3 of the Stages. Please proceed to the main building first and touch base with Dave Branson. He will have you sign a liability waiver and probably talk your ear off if he isn't too busy. Dave is actually the first person in our shooting group to catch wind of Bang Steel and organized a group of us to go up there last July. Just tell Dave Bunsen from the Hide sent you. He is traveling for work this week so even if I let him know you were coming he likely wouldn't remember.

I should be there by 11:30am on Sat, my tee time isn't until 12:30pm. I'll be more than happy to sit down and chat with you after I shoot. It can be a little hectic during the prep phase and I'm not a chatty Kathy while I'm shooting the match.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to see why I couldn't get a private email here, I'll check my settings.
The problem I'm facing is that I have so many hobbies and not enough time, plus a wife that enjoys my company on the weekend, usually on the boat or the Harley, tho' she's never been 1 to tell me I can't go do something, she's great that way. I think I'll keep her. I'm going to try to do my fishing early Sayurday with my buddy then get the wife on the bike and head to Woodys. That's my plan !!!

Did you make it down to Woody's? Any interest in a precision rimfire match this Sunday? Your PM's are still non-functional.
