Went to drop the Hammer tonight ..

Went to drop the hammer tonight, and the Safety Lever would not fully rotate to Off position . Got home about half hour ago and opened AR up . Looked, seen something shinny down there in safety. Picked it out with a magnet . Also I just running an older RR 2-stage trigger group. Looking it over I see nothing in there TG seems to function perfectly fine .

Anybody recognize, know,, or have idea what This Is ?

Ya it a really odd looking ' very small ' piece of metal rod shaped material with a milled out tiny slot on one end ? I assuming it was a straight rod, until I put a slight bend in it with the thumb pressure I put on it with safety rotation .

Was going back to Truck after a set scanning for some dogs . I dropped the Magazine. cleared the live Round out, then went to rotate safety to drop hammer on empty chamber to then throw AR in back seat of truck and move on . Safety lever would not drop down all the way to let TG function .
Bizarre was last thing I ever expected to happen, and I got Zero idea of what this debris is ? , or how ended up in my lower lodged back behind the Safety rotation lever .

Nope not metal tumbler pin media . This Brass and load I use in this AR never seen any steel media tumbling . I only tumbled this Brass ( .25x45 ) in hot water and soap , and this 300 ct. starline brass on it's 3rd reload.

That was what got me. The finish on the end and the slot. It looks like it's held I with a pin similar to how an ejector is secured. What kind of gas block?

I checked out the TG pretty close with magnifying glass and light. all is pretty easy to see and all looks fine .
That tiny metal rod not resemble the spring parts of the RR 2-stage I using .

I would check the "J wire" in your hammer.

The "J wire" is the "spring" used to hold the hammer in place on the hammer pin.

And while that is about the only thing that I can think of that is from... I could be completely wrong.

I did that the day after the new spring kit . I took both my 'Old Lady Guns' , ( 2 snubby's ) out and fired several cylinders threw both.

No I have had that TG out of lower several times to clean and buff parts . That Lower is on it's 3rd barrel of the same Caliber .

It's Pilot Error .. It's always 99% of the time pilot error that fucks it all up . The logical 'only way' . It had to be ( ME ) and Somehow ? I let the foreign debris drop, fall, break-off, bounce, find it's way into the Lower and, 'most likely' the last time it was opened up, striped out Bolt to do a barrel cleaning.

Only mystery on my OCD brain is what it is, what it came from, how I let happen . I probably never will find answer.

I’d be thinking the same way. Even if I was to blame for introducing the object into the firing/safety mechanism, what is it and where did it come from? It certainly looks like no AR part I’ve ever seen, yet it appears to have been from something mechanical.

I’m a tinkerer and have fixed or attempted to fix so many different things over the years. Yet that piece doesn’t ring a bell in any way.

Like you, I want to know what it is and what it’s from.

It almost looks like it could have come from a clock mechanism or other item that uses a notched plunger piece to engage or disengage.

Did you have any magazine issues recently? Looks like it might be the end of the mag spring that connects to the follower.

It's not going to be a peice of any spring if the op bent it with his finger and it stayed bent.
