Went to the range this morning to break in my new barrel

It's a CLE 20" varmint and it looks like it's a good one.:) Used 2 shots to sight in at 50 yards then did four 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Stopped there and switched to another AR since I figured I need to take it home and clean it before shooting more. I buggered up the second group by adjusting the elevation the wrong way. I'm an old fart so I always make mistakes like that. LOL

Thanks guys. I was trying to be careful with the break in and did three rounds of one shot and clean at home earlier before going to the range and figured 22 shots at the range would be enough before another cleaning. There seems to be a lot of different opinions about breaking in of a barrel. :)

The bipod is the CAL (cant and loc) model. The Hornady 75 BTHP had 23.0 grains of Varget. The 77 grain SMK and Bergers both had 20.9 grains of AR Comp.

Sounds like some envy Mr Kraut.....

Nice shooting.

Most here say shoot em. Thats how you break em in.

Was shooting a brand new revolver last evening with my kid and a friend.
Accurate with wander at first.
Around 36 rds in started to settle and a few more cyclinders and was hammering at 20 yds.
Even pistols need a little smoothing out.

I'm a big fan of Compass Lake AR barrels... I have one of their Douglas Service Rifle profile with SDM flutes. One of the best shooters I have, definitely a keeper.

What blank did they use for yours? If I remember they do Bartlein, Kreiger, Douglas and Criterion...

It's the Bartlein. I got the Kreiger varmint barrel last time so I wanted to try the Bartlein this time.
