Results of mother nature being a bitch. Retarded liberal solutions, no vegetation management. Enjoy the dark!

I hope the wind blows for a month!

And yes, I fully realize it will negatively impact some people who don’t deserve it. Well every single policy, law, or rule ever put into place does the same thing. Unintended consequences are a bitch!

Those at the top of the climate change agenda know whats coming yet twist the truth to fit their plan.

The man upstairs shakes up the world by natural means historically. They know this, yet intentionally withhold what they know to be true from you.

Awesome! Hope violent home invasions, "old surprise visits", and other fun shenanigans happen to the liberal elites in their own homes in the darkness... And I hope that the police will do anything they can to delay responding to calls coming from the gated elite zones. Let them suffer.

Fuck them.

This is what happens in socialist utopias. Big surprise...actions have consequences. Every person I have ever known that lives in a shithole country always talks about power outages and water issues. Welcome to 3rd world California. Liberal paradise, where you’re either homeless or an elite. You reap what you sow, CA.

It will effect the "good" part of CA more than it will effect those areas that are causing the problem.

This is how cities die.

They become malignancies that suck the life out of the host. When the host no longer provides they die.

Well I dont give two shits what happens.

I dont blame PG&E one bit for doing this. They got blamed for the "Camp fire" that destroyed the city of Paradise. They got hit with something like 8 billion dollar fine/settlement. From a business standpoint what would you do.

I would imagine that brush/tree control is under some other government agency and of course we don't want to hurt any microorganisms that might be living in a tree.

So fuck-em. If I was in charge I would do the same thing.

PG&E did this a month ago for a couple days and there were 7-9 fires started by personal generators. Here is the story of one.

Would it not be ironic if they have worse fires in the coming days. But PG&E won't be responsible.

Sounds to me like an experiment or test of a larger plan or possible solution.
People can be easily manipulated when you take away modern conveniences.

I bet the environmentalists are crying over the thousands of generators that are running right now too! I want to see satellite pictures tonight of the affected areas.

The crooked CA court system backed PGE into a corner on this one.

stand by for Newsome to suggest "socializing" the privately held company.

Im sure CA state govt can run the utility efficiently.

Fuck em. This is but one problem created by the liberal government and I am happy too see their chickens coming home to roost. Sorry about the good people that will suffer.

Sadly, an unintended consequence might be that the roaches leaves the state and infect decent places.

I see it as a way to push the Agenda 21 type stuff on a subtle basis.

If you live in the big cities, no problem.

But if you live outside the big cities, we'll cut off your power, tough luck.
Also we'll cancel your insurance so you can't build or finance anything unless you can pay for it all up front.

And of course it's the idiots in the big cities voting in all the stuff that creates these issues.

They are trying to empty out any pockets of resistance and force folks into their tightly communist controlled urban corridors.

This should be affecting many in the big cities also. Transmission lines are overhead, not many power plants in town, fuel supplies for the plants are not in town also. Makes me happy to be on the sectionalized ERCOT grid.

Unfortunately, most of the adverse effects will be felt in area where the citizens are conservatives/Republicans...

Let that shit hole burn.

One take from the article is some people did not prepare and tried to get supplies at 3:00am when power was cut off. WTF you were given many days warning. Fuck-em x2. Seems like a good time for a purge. Apparently all the idiots who did not evacuate for Katrina moved to northern California.

We live in America.

We solve problems.

We dont submit to what "might" happen.

PG&E needs to keep the power on.

That shits for Puerto Rico not here.

California is not the only state in the union with high voltage transmission lines over vast areas of wilderness full of dry fuels where high winds occur.

California does seem to be the only state that has repeated wildfires caused by those high voltage lines, though.

I guess fixing their shitty busted infrastructure is too much to ask?

They also dont like to blame the people "that matter" for their problems......

Were not some of these fires started by illegals/homeless camping out?

The biggest thing is there is not an eye witness account of any power lines causing the camp fire. Only speculation.

There have been fires in the past that have been proven as structures have been found on the ground. Dealing with forces of nature can be a challenge. Just when you think you have a leg up on mother nature she is going to remind you how insignificant you really are in the world.

Funny part is all the tofu farting green yuppies are running the hell out of there cheap ass no emissions crap generators! I bet the economic impact is going to be higher than the cost of the fire and settlements.

I would think that when different phases bump and short in the wind. It would leave a mark. Not hard to spot.

This is the beautybof all their commi bullshit . Guy was telling me why he supported Liz Warren . " She's gonna tax the billionaires and pay for our healthcare ." So my argument . Cali is full of these Commi Lib Twats right . Well when the electric company burnt down a significant part of Cali did they go after the powere company? Noooooooo !!! They told the power company raise your rates so the surfa can pay for the damages . Thanks glorioua leaders .
I told my boss two or three years ago that these cuckers want rolling blackouts like North Korea . Cuomo was screaming close the coal fired generating plants we can use nu lear energy . One none contaminated leak later " get rid of nuclear generating plants ." Or fuck the surfs . Best part of Trump interupting the plans was some of their bullshit could not be placedd on hold and now we see it and still have the means to counter it . 2A .

IF leftists actually understood “cause and effect” or “unintended consequences”......
They would no longer be leftists.

Everybody else has a brain.

Makes little sense to me. Each phase is at the same potential, give or take the tolerance. I could see if a phase was suddenly grounded and sparked but two live wires at the same potential should not pose a hazard like that.

I believe that they have very poor infrastructure and are subject to broken high tension lines in the very windy conditions.

I think they should shut off all electric indefinitely for the whole state!

Laughing at the amount of stupid in that state an many others. Man lived on this rock for K's of years w/o electrical power, cell phones/computers, refrigeration ect. Now he can't live w/o that shit for a few hrs w/o bitching or a few weeks w/o killing for that he wants. Fuck it, burn the whole planet to the ground an start over,...

On a three phase line phase to phase voltage is 1.732 times higher than phase to ground voltage on a grounded system. Also each phase is 120 degrees out of phase from the other phase, so two phases will not be at the same potential. Many of the California distribution systems are corner grounded Delta 12470 volts. So phase to phase you measure 12470 volts. Phase to ground or grounded conductor will be about 7200. Delta distribution SUCKS. It has some advantages over WYE systems that are more prevalent now. But WYE has better voltage regulation and over current coordination.

Broken overhead cabling is not common. It's typically burnt down, line faults, trees, trees, fucking trees. Animals also cause a bunch of hell. But for line to just come down it is rare many other factors contribute to that. Especially in wind storms when stuff is picked up and carried to the lines and structures.

Well if it gets cold inside people’s houses, they can go out in their backyards and have a campfire to keep warm.
Let the place burn. They wanted their green shit. Let them have it!

Not sure how you are defining potential.

We're talking about high tension lines not what happens when they are put through transformers. Other than the difference in phase, the amplitude of the voltage vectors for each phase are identical. Hence, in a Delta Connection the Line Voltage is equal to Phase Voltage. Not sure why you are bringing phase to ground into it. The high tension lines are live and completely isolated from ground...or you better hope you aren't near it

Current is another matter entirely and the line current is SQRT(3)*phase current.

Without a diagram to show the concept, it is difficult to explain.

The original supposition was two of the lines would touch and create an issue via sparks. I don't believe that would happen.

E phase = E line * √3

Phase 1 will be at peak (1) while P2 and 3 are at (-0.5)

P1 peak to P2/3. COS(120) = -0.5

Most systems are valued at the phase to phase voltage as that will always be correct no matter if Delta or Wye system.

Phase to phase is bad. Phase to ground is bad. There’s a reason to maintain minimum approach distance.

I live in California and work on transmission lines throughout the state for multiple electrical utility companies. I’ve spent all summer replacing power poles to fire harden PG&E’s transmission lines in Northern California. I helped PG&E get their transmission lines back up and running after the camp fire.

There are multiple factors at play. Old infrastructure, lack of right of way clearing, tough environmental regulations, difficult private property owners, etc. Not to mention the behind the scenes political bs.

It happened down here 2 years ago, the whole state lost power.

I doubt that you will and that's what I was inferring earlier especially after the linemen described how the lines work.

I have done the fly over thermal imaging and our firm does substation work. A lot of things have to happen for a "fire" to happen and the higher the line the more difficult it can become.

There is enough instrumentation on these systems and enough inspections for them to know approximate condition and when voltage/current changes due to a P2P or P2G or even induction type fault. ( that's how they detect and narrow people stealing power and find faults during outages sometimes)

Not down to the pole but to the grid area yes. ( plus hey can detect these often in real time)

I would like to see the actual investigation and RCFA telling me exactly when, where and how the PG&E system caused the fire.

Also the other part of the fire triangle and tetrahedron, the fuel.

You can have a failure that heats or arcs and starts a fire but its land management that makes it get out of control quickly. That's just as important a contributing factor.

Other than a spark, O2, and some pine needles, what else is needed for a fire?

Who's the person stealing primary power? Are they going down to Walmart and buying a primary power transformer to steal this power?......or are you suggesting they are hooking their RV up to 12.47 or 7.2kV to power their microwave, so they can heat up their KFC?

It's typically fairly easy to find the source and cause of ignition of a fire, we have thousands of people that do it daily in this country.

What's the land management that prevents a forest fire? Should we just remove a large swath of trees every mile to prevent the spread of fire, who is paying for this?

I've only been on this site for a year and enjoy it A LOT, minus some of the politics/censorship, but you are ruining my viewing enjoyment. I am not trying to be a jerk, but seriously........could you just pick a couple threads and ruin them and not all of them. I could just hit the ignore button, but your quoted in every third post! Sometimes, less is more!
