Hi, all. This morning I was watching the Outdoor Chanel. Western Extremes came on, & they did a piece on hunting Whitetail deer with a .50 BMG @ 1000yds. on an Indian res in the Dakotas. I was not impressed. Once he called the rifle a 50mm... I'd love to see him shoot one of those off a bi-pod. Then they said they were using the 760gr. A-Max. Didn't know they made one. Then the 1st. shot was missed.(luckily it was a clean miss) & they blamed it on the scope being off "a couple clicks right." This was after they spent the morning sighting in the rifle.
Now maybe the guy really is a experienced long range marksman, & he just came off like he didn't know what he was doing. I still don't think that show was in good taste. If it was edited to give the "real" experienced long range marksman the impression that they knew what they were doing It would be OK with me, but to show it as it was aired, it just gave me a bad feeling, & promoted questionable ethics.
Of course this is MY Opinion, & others may feel differently.
