Looking for input on an optic I've been searching for. I've been eying the PA 3-18 ffp or the Athlon Midas 2.5-15 but not 100% sold on either for my intended use. Criteria below:
- What platform and cartridge?
- Remington 700 long action 7mm RUM in a greyboe pheonix stock
- What is your intended use for the scope?
- Desert mountain hunting (Sheep)
- What type of conditions will you typically shoot in?
- Typical hunting conditions of morning or evening low light, extreme temperature swings between hot and cold
- What are the typical distances you intend to shoot?
- I will not take a shot longer then 600yds because of experience
- Are there any specific specifications you would like?
- I would like a good hunting reticle, not married to ffp or second as long as the reticle is usable, illumination is important due to varied lighting conditions. Weight is a big constraint but not at the expense of function. Prefer to not have to get a caliber specific elevation dial like the leupold cds
- What is the price range you can afford?
- I would like to be in the $500 range on this optic. It won't be used a ton like my deer rifles but needs to fit the use case when heading west
