I had a proud day on the range the other day at work. I was able to score a hit at 1445 meters with the good ol M40! I ended up needing 26.8 mils of elevation to get there. Admittedly there is a fair amount of luck involved with that. Is that a practical shot? Of course not but it was fun to try. Needed 8 shots.

How about you guys? Theres got to be some of you taking it to the mile mark?

Not mine, but was with a buddy when he hit 1760yds with a 20” barrel 308 with a 180 berger.

Longest first round hit so far with a .308 is 1207 yards on a full size IPSC.

Follow up shots hit 3 out of 4. Easy wind 0-3mph from 90 degrees.

1205 2nd shoot 178 ELD-M AI-AE 26 in 1-10 twist almost zero wind. Have lobed them out to over 1400 but it takes 5 or more shoots to score a hit.

1300 yards. First round hit. Shooting 185 juggernaut. At the Rifles Only high angle class in Colorado. 22” barrel 1/10 twist 2664 fps

1200 yards with a Tikka t3x lite in the original tupperware stock shooting 168gr FGMM. It took a few shots though, my best guess is that it was going transonic and tumbling around 1k. At 900yards it was basically a laser, couldn't miss. Push back to 1200 and the consistency dropped considerably.

1609m, 23" barrel. Done with 155gr and 175s. 175s felt like easy-mode compared to 155s. It wasn't quick. I'll say 20 shots on each to walk on. It was realistically 10 or 12, but I'll say 20 as i don't have the data book Infront of me.

1315yrds is my farthest with my .308, 178 ELDXs hand loaded in Black Hills Match brass with BR2 primers and 2000MR powder. Best I have done with it is a first round miss then 5 subsequent hits in a row after that. This out of my Kimber advanced tactical.

AB39 with 175 SMK, 14.5" barrel on a Semi, 1200 yards for 1st round or just off edge of full size IPSC, mainly wind reading error or my fundamentals for missed shots. 1470 yards is about my max to get hits on target with a semi. Have taken a mile shots with it, took some rounds to walk it in, lots of factors to account for.

I've hit 1660 shooting down through a valley, but it took 7 shots before a hit on 14" steel. Luck of the draw since a gust can put you feet off target. 208 ELD-M over 45 grains RL-17 @ 3.043 coal through a stock 700 5R 24".

    2070yds, with 31" 308 (8.7 twist), shooting 198gr Flatlines at 2775 fps.
I have a thread on here on Hide detailing the build and the shooting. It was out in MT, where I have been back twice with many more hits at over 1 mile with the same 308. The 198gr Flatline is an absolute beast of a bullet.

Here is a fun pic, shooting up 22 degrees at a target past one mile. It was snowing up at the target, which gives you idea how steep this was. This is Paradise Valley AO, West Pine Creek.

    1 mile; 5 hits out of 20 rounds with a Sako TRG 22 308 (S&B PM2 5-25x56 P4F) and 6 hits out of 20 rounds with a Remington 700 PSS 308 (NF NXS 5.5-22x50 NPR1). Both stock rifles, ammo Federal 175 GMM, target was 24"x36" silhouette.

1300 with a 22" 308 shooting Lapua 155gr ammo. During an ELR style match, 5 shots/hit to advance, starting at 800 yards.

870 yards with 168 grain FGMM and a Tikka T3 Varmint.
I hope to beat that at the end of this summer, with my TRG 22 and 175 grain Scenar L.

Man I need you guys to come teach me a thing or two. I can’t even hit paper consistently at a 100 yards right now. Honestly I think it’s a combination of poor fundamentals and wrong scope setup.

    500m with 7.62 out of a 240.

200yds my first and only time shooting a bolt gun.

Longest and most enjoyable , same shot. I was with a buddy looking for some of his cows , one in particular that was about to drop a calf. He found her while glassing 850 yds , edge of a fence row.
I was using my 4x4 seat as a rest and found her with my scope , and my buddy told me to look a few yds left. There was a coyote , literally licking his chops !
Calm wind , sent a Federal Gold Match 168Gr. at him. Neck shot which I admit it was luck. Was using a Remington 700 PSS , with a Leupold 6.5 x20 E.F.R. Happy rancher !
Free Black Angus Ribeyes to boot !!!

That's a bit of a drive for me, I'm in North Carolina. I'm certain one of the fine folks on here that live in your AO would be glad to help you. There are many skilled and helpful people on this site. If I was close enough, I'd be glad to help. I still remember how I felt the first time I rang steel at 500 yrds (with helpful instruction, of course). Hang in there, you'll get it.

Try some fast 155s or the 175s or the Warner Flatlines.

With 155gr Lapua ammunition, 1000 yards on your 308 is not hard to do.
Thats the plan, reloading bench comes today. Gonna try to get the 155’s up to speed...16” gas gun.

Same here, a really good buddy of mine took me out to 500 for the first time with my tikka, now I don't wanna shoot anything closer than 500!

On that note I took my fiancee out to the 500 yard range for the first time a couple weeks ago. Previously she had shot at 200 and shorter. She got a first round hit at 500, then proceeded to put the next 4 onto the 5" diamond plate. I learned that I had better not piss her off!

    1100 yards for myself.

My 8 y/o son was able to hit an IPSC target at 1034 yards.
    175gr SMK with 43.5 Varget.
Pre 2014 AIAX 24inch factory barrel.
    Kahles 5-25 skmr3.
I held the Precision Underground rear bag for him to keep the rifle stable.

Awesome feeling to be there with my son for his 1st 1000 yard impact.

1000 yards with a 20” barrel. Was my first bolt gun when I got into long range. After the 1000 yard impacts I rebarreled the action to a 6 creed.

    600. That's the max I've ever shot at but I'm in South Louisiana. There's not many places further than that to shot

What powder did you use for the Juggs? I've got a 22" that has always wanted to try em out.
