The Congress is being told that if they don’t pilfer the US foreign aid programs some more, these other nations will collapse, so we have to prop them up for world peace. It’s been that way for a long time.

For those who did not catch it. This foreign aid is exactly where our congress critters have been scamming us. This is where their kickbacks and grossly overpaid jobs for family members that they then skim money from are originating. The worst of it is our country/we would be immensely better off if they just straight up stole their millions directly from the treasury. You know you guys are getting pissed off about 0.17% of the Fed taxes collected earmarked Aide/Art, right? Those pics above are a total of $6.09 Billion. $6 billion out of $3.5 Trillion in US tax revenue. All that aide/funding mentioned above is about $18 per US citizen. Ya, BUT, not every US citizen pays taxes. So for those of us who actually work and pay the tax man, that amount is not $18. Not only that, we seem to not have much of a say about how our taxes are spent as those who have no dog in the fight, due to a lack of intelligence and motivation, seem to keep voting idiots into office who obviously have not a clue how to use the tax money they take in wisely.
No, the US government is buying corn, rice, wheat and other goods from American farmers and busineses and sending them to other countries as part of foreign aid. In return, we get a ally, we get to help ward off starvation, and we possibly get a say in their local politics.
Like it or not, we are the world's policeman for the time being. We need to have a vision into other countries to have a plan when the next Osama ben Laden arises.
That is the theory, but not how it generally works out. Look it up and you see how that aid enriches local warlord types and allows them yet another avenue to control the poor people under their boot and enslave them. I don't think you'd find much in the line of allies in Haiti, even though the US has provided countless aid there. Or in many other places anywhere I'd wager... If we have had a say in local politics, boy we have f'd it up royally. I'd rather see that money/aid stay in the USA for our country and people first, minus a few natural disasters and ongoing war effort actions.
