From reading and talking with Jay and another helpful hide member, I know the direction I'm going in with regards to PVS14 mount. What I Haven't decided on is the bump cap. I REALLY don't want to support anyone that sides with the suicide queen, but if it's the best option in the non ballistic $300-$500 range I'll do it.

What are you you guys using?

    Thanks

I have a bump from the previously mentioned company that shall not be named. Politics aside, they make a good product, and it's at least produced by American workers.

I think the Opscore is likely just as good (though you're giving up a metal shroud), especially once you add some 4d pads - at the end of the day getting a good fit is what's most important.

Another TW user here. Their harness and pads just work.

Yes, their owner supported the other side. So what? If we boycott everyone that supports the other party, we’re no better than they are. <shrug>. I go with the best made American product first, if I can. TW make good helmets, or they wouldn’t still be in business.

    But, to each their own....

@bullseye13 So here is a parts list. This setup is way MO BETTA than the Ops Core Bumps and more durable. Those Ops Core plastic shrouds wear out.

This setup is also very comfortable and cheaper than going the Ops Core Bump route. You pretty much have to add better pads to the Ops Core offerings to get real comfort and also do the H-Nape Chinstrap change as well.

Lancer Airsoft Helmets out of stock right now but the one I listed is same just different name. And those cheap metal shrouds I have found to be just as out of tolerance as the high dollar Ops Core shrouds. A small file and electrical tape (shim that slop) is your friend with any of them.

I think many of the items we are sold that are supposed to be Tier 1 US made have some ties to Chinese manufacturing. NOT ALL, NOT ALL but a lot.

I wear a TW every night I go out. Have been since 2014 — long before their betrayal of all that is Right in the world.

Just like I have some pre-2013 Troy stuff.

I just don’t buy either of their products anymore. If they were the only game in town, that’s one thing. But since there are a number of quality alternatives available, my dollars now go to AMERICAN companies.

Team Wendy Exfil LTP. I could care less what their ceo thinks. I will be wearing his company's bump helmet as I put marxists in the dirt when it comes to that. I find it pleasing to fight socialism/comminism with excellent gear made by capitalists promoting communism.

I have a TW bump. Padding and harnesses can be swapped out. In my opinion, you need to focus on a few key details that will lead to which one you buy.

    1) mounting options- do you want proprietary TW rails and mounts? TW made their own rail pattern so mounting ear pro, lights and other stuff has to go through them.

    2) NV Shroud- the TW helmet has an aluminum insert to hold your NVG mount which is superior to plastic. Ops Core Carbon (which costs more) does use a metal shroud vs their cheaper FAST bump with plastic molding. In my opinion, I wouldn't want molded plastic being the connection between my helmet and a few thousand dollar monocular.

    3) Impact rating- the TW bump LTP is not even impact rated. Their Carbon helmet is rated under white water rafting requirements. I assume this rating was needed for training helmets under .gov contract requirements. I don't think my LTP would crack open after a spill, but something to note if it's important to you, i.e dirt bike, ATV, other activities that are fun to do under nods.

These are things I have not seen anyone mention here other than briefly about the shroud. Like I said, padding and harnesses can be changed. Focus on the rail system, shroud and impact rating. Those are the core parts of a helmet and much harder if not impossible to change without buying a completely different helmet.

I don't regret my TW helmet, but knowing what I know now, I would switch to an Ops Core Carbon with the TW harness and Ops 4D pads.

Thanks to everyone so far with the recommendations. Just wanted to clarify that I'm not a TW hater. I dont think I've ever read a bad thing about the actual TW product. I also do my best to buy American every day. BUT I wouldn't piss on a Hillary supporter if they were rolling around on fire. And I feel the collapse of this country will be because of people that profit from our undoing. I have a problem with people that support those people.
Now I do understand that the owner's opinions do not necessarily reflect that of the workers and the families they support but I'm a stubborn asshole.

Still for some reason I'm not opposed to buying one. I'm just hoping there is a better product out there.
Even if I gotta hang with the badass Tier1 airsoft guys.😁

Get an Ops Core carbon and whatever pads and harness you want. Done deal.

Crye Nightcaps are pretty solid. I picked up a pre-order MTEK Flux Carbon-V back in mid-2016 that I love. Went with them because I was issued Ops-Core at work and hated it and didn't want a TW like everyone else had. What can I say, mom said I was special.

Should definitely get a nightcap either way. Very small and convenient to travel with when you don't want to pack a helmet. I find a helmet much more comfortable, but the nightcap definitely has a place.

The Crye Nightcap is hard to beat.

Nightcaps are nice... Used you have a big head... :cautious:

Exactly. My head is too damn large for a NightCap. I can barely wear one, and it's not remotely comfortable for me.

I've got a TW LTP. The L/XL fits my large noggin beautifully, and with ANVIS9s in the front and the heavy TW counterweight (with 2 weights) in the back, it balances beautifully. The Exfil rails are *slightly* annoying to get accessories for since the OpsCore rails have better support, but it's not that hard to get them set up.

If I am not using a ballistic Ops core, I am usually rocking the TW LTP bump, I like the shroud better, and it fits my head better than the base jump or whatever ops core calls it now. Nightcap imo is a nice to have thing, but not as necessary as a helmet.

For those whose heads are big that have fitment issues, this guy here specials in head size reduction. He is shown here teaching others just how to administer head reduction surgery. I bet his services are cheap too.

I bought a Crye Nightcap first, and can echo all the positives stated above. It’s comfy and more importantly it’s cooler than a helmet in warm weather, plus lower profile for when I have some extra ninja’in to do.
Then, after much soul searching and deep meditation, I purchased the TW bump. IMO, it’s a better designed (wtf plastic shroud?), better outfitted out of the box (no need to add another $100+ Just to make to make the suspension/padding tolerable), and a better value being a USA designed & built product. Those are all hard points for my decision. The clincher was when I realized that nearly all DOD/.gov contract-seeking businesses of any notable size donate to both sides of our two-headed snake. They do so to preserve good will and promote future contract opportunities for themselves. TW just got noticed doing it. I bet we’d all cringe if we ever knew the truth about other suppliers we hold in high esteem.

I could be wrong, but it’s just a fuckin’ bump helmet and that bitch lost anyways.

@TheHorta did your Raptor Tactical Sentinel ever show up? Wondering what you think about it.

    Yup!

Been lazy. Put on the MC one and it felt pretty good. Haven’t installed the shroud and kitted it out yet. Very optimistic though. I think it’s better than Nightcap, save for the portability / convenience of the NC.

The boa system is kind of hinky. Much worse than the ops core version.

Ops Core makes something like this???

    Send link please. Will try.

It's probably 99% as good as a helmet.

I tried one of those out and it was great! Price is a little hard to swallow at $400, but a 20% discount brings it down to the realm of the Sentinel plus a shroud.

Pricey, and it looks uncomfortable. The Raptor is all soft and collapsible. I like that it has lots of Velcro patching. The OC looks like putting stuff on the back is either impossible or would take some finagling.

I can put up with the hinky BOA. It doesn’t squeeze my head like I thought it might. I seem very sensitive to stuff squeezing my head and ears. It gives me headaches very quickly. Even high-end ear pro doesn’t take long to start affecting me.

I’ll order one and check it out... for posterity.

I wouldn't go out looking to get laid with it on, but otherwise, it is a pretty perfect execution of the idea.

I think you can afford it, bro.

If you look at the sentinels upside down, they look like a mil spec diaper/chastity belt.

Ironically, that’s the first thought I had. Actually, this is the first thought I had:

Definitely not a lot of cool points with it, but surprisingly comfortable. Fortunately it's dark out when I'm using this stuff so no one can see how ridiculous I look, lol.

Yeah, it looks like you have a hot date with an electric chair, but very comfortable and the counterweight system is quite good.

    So what????

I will STRONGLY disagree here. They did more than "just support the other side". Their owner had Hillary on their stage while he bragged she was going to be the best President we ever had and shook her hand saying it. Then for the grand finale she promoted another AWB right on their stage!! On top of that they lied about the truth and took off the initial reports on their FB page. Then when we protested initially the end game was from their so-called "CEO friend of TNVC" who sent us a despicable email saying TNVC this or that of our actions. Right then and there (even though I was 10,000 miles away) I knew the REAL company and how we would NEVER do business with them again.

Listen, someone has to answer for the families of Benghazi and it sure the heck ain't Team Hillary or Susan Rice let alone the owner of TW! I apologize for NOTHING! We threw away almost a million in sales with them and were at that time the largest commercial dealer. But you know what, it was the BEST damn decision we made and I sleep just fine each and every night!

Someone buy @POGPride 's Gentex ballistic from the PX before I buy a useless hat that won't fit.

For fucks sake no one will ever shoot at you anyway.

I have one. They are very comfortable and a very solid piece of headgear.

They are the most adjustable system that you can very quickly fit to anyone's head. I use them to quickly fit out a person that are typically guests and first time users that go out with us. They have the fastest adjustment of any system I have ever seen.

They are also very cool and lightweight in the summer compared to a regular helmet (bump or ballistic)

    But he died of Kuru.
One of the richest men of the time likely got his ass eaten up to. Them South American Indians in the shrunken head photo. The Papua New Guineans were and likely still have some that like the taste. Ain't nothing quite like a rich man negotiating with a po hungry man.

We used to run tw, still got some around, but we’ve went to the helmets over at gunnook and for their bump helmets they are great, even their 100 dollar helmet is pretty damn nice, there dang sure isn’t 200 dollars difference in them and the tw helmets, and we wear them anywhere from 4 to 10 hours at a time shooting pigs, and their customer service is amazing.

I just looked at them, they look like normal Chinese helmets that they "spruced" up (not saying that it's bad!) Would you concur that's what they are?

I am looking at getting a bump and was thinking of going for a Chinese and upgrading it myself as said near the top of the thread, but your may be an option that's already done for you.

Do you have any more details comparing them with the TW?

For a 99 dollar helmet, they’ve got Velcro pads that are comfortable that you can wipe clean and a really decent ratchet gear, it also came with mounting gear for the sides and as for a tw comparison the tw is slightly more comfortable but not 200 more, and as stated before, their customer service is second to none! Call them and talk to them.

GunNook has both China and USA bump shells, if you call them and tell them you want a USA helmet, you get one, they cost a fuzz more but worth it imho.
