Suppressors What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

The list of sniper rifle calibers is short and irrelevant without a reason for the question.

The list of precision long range hunting or target rifle calibers is beyond extensive and more than a little obligatory...again, without a reason for the question.

I'm not a sniper, and as such, don't own a snipers rifle...regardless, my calibers are not listed and so I shall not participate in this poll.

To the OP...your poll is inadequate. Need "all of the above," "none of the above," and/or the ability to vote for additional calibers (.338LM, .408CT, etc.) and multiple calibers for those of us (admittedly NOT snipers...who may have a need for more than one suppressor/precision rifle that needs suppressing).

The poll needs a Boron Ion Shard Railgun in 5,000Mega-Joules option.
Shards away!

The question isn't audible, so you're alright, you can read it. I know you are an AAC customer, so you should ask them about the hearing loss.

-----------------

I put up a poll to try to decypher what percentage of people use suppressors for .300 Win Mag firearms. Being more informed would give me a better chance of building a product that met the needs of the public.

I'm running another similar poll on our facebook fanpage and the data I got so far was 26 votes for .308 21 for 5.56 and 2 for .300 WIN MAG. (with a couple people adding lesser used chamberings like 6.8SPC, .303, 7.62x54R etc.)

So the poll seems to suggest the .300win mag is a small niche not worth attention right now.

That's what I kind of expected but I figured Snipers Hide would be the place to get answers from precision rifle users.

Maybe you should actually try the product before you bash it?

shoulda said all that from the get go

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

Yeah sorry about that, I just figured it would be less controversial to post just the poll.

With the state of the economy the .308 is probably a better idea than .300 Mag for cost. We'll probably opt out of the .300 mag compatibility.

I like the .300 mag but my rifle also is a .308. I once had a .300. It was extremely accurate, but I sold it because everything I wanted to do (detachable mags, picatinny base, and McMillan stock) would cost $1000 and the FN SPR had all those features standard.

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

do I get two choices or may be even three...223, 6.8mm, and 308...depends on what I want to shoot but all have the accuracy to meet and exceed 3/4 MOA since I have semi's and bolts that I utilize.

Yeah, that should have just been laid out from the beginning.
Regardless. I feel it's a serious NEGATIVE for a .308 product to not handle .300 WM scenarios.

Just because you're getting less feedback from .300 WM people, doesn't mean you should be building a .30 caliber suppressor that can't accommodate it. (if suppressors is what you're building)
I know if I am in the market for a suppressor for a .30 cal, and DO NOT own a magnum, I would still chose a magnum rated suppressor simply because I MIGHT WANT ONE LATER.

I personally feel that any .30 cal can would benefit from being magnum rated, the same way that any 5.56 can would benefit from being full auto rated. As a developer, I'd hate to limit what my customer can do with my product.

VERY FEW .300 Win Mag owners will buy a suppressor that isn't magnum rated. Many more NON-win mag owners just might, for the piece of mind knowing that they have the option.

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

You didn't list .338LM, I have a AAC Titan. Covers just about everything. I clicked 308, have a 762SD as well. Don't understand the comment about hearing loss with AAC. It's really impressive when I can shoot all day without earpro, especially with the .338LM.

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

HAHAHA, mine is 308, easy to find subsonic loads (a whole nother thread) and easy to find full power ammo and loads.
I guess broken record,
WHY?

Absolutely true! While I love my AWC Thundertrap, it would not have been in the running had it not been rated for my 300RUM (not to mention 300WM!), and it's a ".308 can". I called them (AWC) before buying it to verify it was rated for my RUM, even though at the time, it was slated for my .308. Would not have bought it had it not been. Now, years later, I don't own a .308 or RUM, but it does it's thing on my 7 mag. Don't limit your customer base by limiting what they can do with your product. That'd be just dumb.

The small number of responses makes this poll statistically useless.

I would build ONE 7.62 can that will work on x51 & x66

Probably because other manufacturers have cornered the market. So you base your decisions of a poll of around 50 people? That is pretty weak data right there. Just saying...... open up the flood gates a little and get more people's opinions.

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

I have a 300 WM rated suppressor that I routinely run on everything from 22LR up through 300 WM, primary use is 308 and other like-capacity cartridges.

The 22LR and .223 use are stop gap measures while I'm waiting for other cans to clear background checks. I bought the 300WM version specifically because I can run my magnum 7's through it without worry of hurting anything and still getting good performance.

100% agree with above.

And you will get a lot of flak here talking about a "Sniper Rifle", unless you are an active duty sniper, or similar LE. Smacks of poserness. You will not be taken seriously.

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

How's it going Austin? Probably be good to plan on a .30 that is .300 WM compatable. The 6mm, 6.5, and 7mm guys can use the same suppressor.

Hello Ron, I guess I am a little slow, but I wanted to welcome you on here!

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

I have all three calibers listed in the poll and .260 as well.

Love shooting the .300WM suppressed. It sounds just like the .308 - no perceived difference in SPL to the shooter.

Re: What caliber is your suppressed sniper rifle?

.223 & .308 TBAC, use the .223 on the AR, but mostly use the .308 on my .260Rem & .284Win, just getting ready to tune the M1a I have in a Sage to use the .308 can.

It's going good Ron- just got engaged. Hope your doing well. I think you're probably correct. A lot of the market is so "optimized" and weight sensitive that .30 caliber suppressors that are not .300WM compatible occur and may not be the most flexible in that respect.

Just heard one of your .338LM suppressors on youtube. Steve at ADCO was shooting it. Excellent sound performance. It sounded great. I'm surprised I haven't heard of it till now.

Sorry guys, I miss-typed when I said sniper rifle instead of "precision rifle". The military had a lot of time to program me, and no one spent any time re-programming me to be politically correct.

Congratulations on getting engaged. I never liked the .338 12th models like the one in the video so i stopped making them. I prefer the 2" 3rd models like the canadians used before the PGW and .408 like we made for EDM years back.
