I would like to know what cartridges will feed reliably in a Long Action AICS with .300 winch mags and 338 LM mags?

So for sure without modifications:
300WM
338LM
7RM

What about the following and others that you know of?
284WIN?
280REM?
7SAUM?
7WSM?

Re: What Calibers in Long Action AICS??

I have a 280AI being built that with an M5. Was out in the garage earlier seeing if the 280AI would feed from the mag and it will with unmodified 300WM mags. There are some post here somewhere with the 284Win in the mags. I would think the short mags you have listed would with no problem but not real sure.

Re: What Calibers in Long Action AICS??

Was playing with the 7WSM and I dont think it will work in the LA mag without a bunch of work on the mag, pushing forward on the back of the case makes it nosedive in the mag. This might be since I dont have a bullet in the brass but it not real sure.

Pics shows a 300WM round, 280AI round, and 7WSM brass in 300WM AICS mags.

Settles that one

Does it also apply to the 7 SAUM?

Like Wild Bill said the advantages of the LA is you can seat the 180 Berger out further giving you more case capacity. As far as AI mags go you will have to use 338 lapua mags because the WSM case are to big diameter wise to feed from a WM mag. They feed great from an AI mag becuase it is a single stack mag. Only disadvantage is one can only get 5 rd mags so if you are shooting comps where your firing long strings this means more mag changes. No big deal just have to practice mag changes. </div></div>

Re: What Calibers in Long Action AICS??

will a remington 300 ultra mag fit in the 338 lapua mags.
i could be wrong but i believe the ultra is just a hair longer on the overall length so that is why i am asking

. i stick to 5, 284 rounds in a 300wm aics mag now.
