Might wanna try a custom hand call. Thinking about buying one for a back up.

Re: what calls for coyotes

Check out the custom call makers over at Predator Masters. You will be able to find guys there that build everything from production calls to some really slick custom stuff and will be able to cocah you on a few things if you need it...

Best advice next to getting a FOXPRO

Re: what calls for coyotes

Call me old fashioned, but I still hate hunting with anything that takes batteries.

I rocked Dan Thompson and Tally-Hos growing up. I like to howl 'em in and IMHO, e-callers don't let you react to individual critters and situations.

Re: what calls for coyotes

i bought myself a Primos PowerDogg for 118 through Midway for Christmas, the next morning I piled up a yote of my front porch. I have owned many electronic calls including Foxpros (nice), yes costly when the powerdogg works great with remote, shipped for about $125. Hand calls I like the Primos Randy Anderson collection, specially the KiYi and the Cat Nip. Easy to use and brings them to you- If I hunt my front porch I bring them to an electric call 100 yards or more away. Its addicting, good luck- stay center.

+1
I have a bunch of his calls and they work. I just had a yote coming to the Rabid Rabbit and ran into my back knocking off my boonie hat. I didn't get the safety off and just heard the click as he laid behind me, looking at me point the gun and then the after burners kicked in and there was just a cloud of snow as he was gone into the pines.
Two tips, sit with your back to a tree and make sure you relief yourself like I do before I start a stand

That I learned from a nurse in emt school with regards to driving.

Re: what calls for coyotes

Well, I called my first yote in with a Sceery AP-6, and I'm on my second one now. I'm also on my second foxpro, but I still like to use the AP-6 - I'd say my success is about 50-50 hand calls to electronics. Personally, I don't get so hung up on what call or sounds as much as I do about being where the coyotes are, being unseen, and making a killing shot when it is presented. All the calls in the world won't bring in a yote if they're not there to begin with, or see you on your approach. Find out where they live, keep quiet on approach, keep still, and you'll kill coyotes. The callin is the easy part......
