What dies should I get for my 6.5 CM

Hey guys,

Just picked up my first 6.5 CM. Going to shoot club matches and steel with the rifle. I plan on using 139 scenars and Lapua brass.

What dies should I get for this? I single stage off a rockchucker. I currently use Lee dies for my other calibers. I've never used or did much research into the different die brands.

I have three sets of 6.5 CM dies , two are Redding and a set of Hornady new dimension dies.
The Hornady dies are very nice for the price and I have many sets of them and I'm sure the match set with the micrometer seater are worth every penny.

What are your guy's thoughts on bushing sizing the necks?

I mostly bushing size ( Lapua Barass ), I use the Hornady set for resizing all of the Hornady brass I have.

Edit to add that I neck turn my Lapua brass and part of the reason I bought the Hornady dies it to be able to size fired brass and then neck turn.
The bushing dies are not suitable for sizing fired brass and then neck turning due to them not forming all the way down to the neck shoulder junction.

What are your guy's thoughts on bushing sizing the necks?

I went with Forster and had them hone the inside to 3.5thou under loaded diameter, then set remaining neck tension (if any), with a mandrel.

If you plan on using Lapua, I'd do what I did. ~$45 for the resizing die and $24 for the honing.

Redding Match dies with the neck bushing and competition bullet seater die. The seater die in particular is worth the $$. I get concentricity in my loaded bullets in the .001-.002 range.

I'm still using a Lee Decaping die, Hornady non bushing FL sizing die, Hornady neck die, Forster shoulder bump die and a Hornady seating die with Micrometer for 6.5. I'll graduate to better dies soon, but this has been my go to for the last year. The Micrometer was the most beneficial thing for a seating die. I can't imagine loading without it.

If its a factory rifle I'm a big fan of the Master Hunter set of dies offered from Redding. They include a standard full length sizer and their competition seater. The Hornady and Forster dies are equally nice.

I'm not a big fan of using bushing dies unless you start turning case necks. Thats just a personal belief of mine.

You dont have to use a bushing alone to set the final sized dimension, you can use it just to remove the excess working of the brass with anormal full length die.
