What do yall think about this tube gun??

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

No personal experience with the Eliseo or any other tube gun, but I really like it. I'm planning a tube gun build when I return to the States, and I think the Eliseo system is the way to go. It <span style="font-style: italic">seems</span> more expensive than the MAK tube gun, but the Eliseo includes his excellent adjustable buttstock.

While a glue-in is probably not a real disadvantage in the long run, the pessimist in me likes the ability to remove the action if needed or desired. You don't have that option once you glue your action into an MAK stock.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

MAK has a recoil disc setup so glueing isn't necessary. I don't think this is on their website (which sucks, btw), but call and ask them. A lot of the folks are using disc vs. glue...

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

I think Eliseo's can run a disc now too.

Question I have is what difference is there between the Eliseo that takes AICS mags and the Mak that takes AICS mags?

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

The MAK seems to have a rear stock similar to a AR variant. Steve123 on here has a MAK and shot it at the LV Comp. There are a couple of people on here who have the Eliseo's and they seem to be the same as a TUBB2000.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

Thanks Hugh, its Steve's MAK that put it in my head first, then swarrick's in Vegas...

The Tubb has the advatage of being built with the Anschutz trigger.

Hope you had a nice turkey day.

What are you looking for? I'll give you my opinion. I think it's a waste of money and unnecessary for tactical comps. What is it going to bring to the table that isn't already sitting there? Or what is it going to bring that pure practice will not provide?

I like tube guns and have FF many but am not impressed with any special features, even a "round" stock. It's just a different flavor of the same ice cream.

One of you guys build an Eliseo so the rest of us can fondle it LOL and see what we like and don't like about both systems.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

I've owned both the Eliseo and several MAK's so here is my take on the two of them.

the choices for the Eliseo butt stock are very limited.

the choices for the MAK butt stock are anything that fits an AR-15 including the fully adjustable competition style offered by White Oak Precision.

and from the MAK website

With the MAK, you change from the competition style to any sort of collapsing stock then to a longer stock like the Magpul PRS.

The Eliseo Remington RTS takes AICS mags. If you want a tubegun that accepts AICS mags then you need to get on the Eliseo <span style="font-weight: bold">RTS order list NOW,</span> or just order a MAK tubegun repeater.

As the Eliseo RTS website say's, "The first civiliain production run is now in process, they will be available in special tan type III hard anodize only, <span style="font-weight: bold">the quantity will be limiited, get on the list now!</span>"

http://www.competitionshootingstuff.com/id26.html

Like I said, I've owned both and I've shot both. I chose the MAK because it was so easy to change buttstocks, pistol grips and barrels for whatever caliber and type of shooting I wanted to do.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

I like the idea of having a bolt gun in the same config. as a AR style rifle. The Ar style fits me better for postional shooting. so thanks for all yalls help.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

Here's mine . It is an R5 though, not an S1.
I think it is really well balanced, which is something I was looking for it, as I plan to use it for slinged off hands shooting.
Plus, it looks very cool, which is a good thing

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

The reasons I've been thinking of the MAK for tactical comps are:
a)I don't want an gasgun
b)The layout of an AR/Tubb style rifle lends itself (IMHO) better to positional shooting. When my A5/T4A guns are setup comfortably for prone and offhand they aren't as comfy and repeatable (for me) in positions such as sitting and kneeling as an AR/Tubb is.

I'd opt for the MAK due to the buttstock/grip compatability with off the shelf AR stuff, and I'd go with a recoil disk, because I'm not sure I like the epoxied in idea (I have a history of being afflicted with ADD and changing platforms when the next shiny object passes by).

Just my opinion.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

Not a big tube gun fan here. I have messed with or shot most of them and just dont like em. The Eliseo has one great feature though, the single stack mags. I just cant get into the idea of a tubed action and the guns feel sorta bulky and "potato gun" like. But then, I have the real deal, the T2k, so I am a bit spoiled.

Now, as of a few days ago I now know of another option...did yall see the kit for sale on the 6mmbr website that uses a Barnard action? That might be worth looking into.

If I was to shoot tac comp (I dont), me thinks I would be sticking with one of my A5s or something like that, stockwise.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

Thats what I want in the picture... 16inch Carbon fiber barrel! WOW thats cool. If I were to supply the action - what would a TUBE rifle like that cost to build?$$?

Those are custom made rifles by Jense Precision.

Jense Precision Tube Guns

KK Jense is an excellent gunsmith, a great guy and very much a straight shooter. I would talk to him regarding what you're looking for in a tube gun. Personally, I've owned 12 tubeguns over the years and they are worth every penny.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

The TUBB rifle has several advantages over any tube gun.

First, it is not a tube gun. It's not a pipe in which you bond or insert someone else's action. It's a unique action degined by Tubb and McMillan. There is no tube to stick it into.

The Tubb action has a unique bolt design geometry and one of the slickest, easiest to operate bolts on the planet.

The action needs zero gunsmithing to shoot. It is good to go from the box.

It is set up for easy DIY barrel changes.

It comes with a two stage Anschutz trigger. There is no single stage trigger that can compare. If you've never fired a rifle with a two-stage Anschutz, you will find that hard to believe, but that's how it is.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

I'm interested in seeing a few "RTS" builds if any are out there.I've been interested in the Eliseo stuff as there just down the street(like 5-10mins)....

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

I am getting close to pulling the trigger on one of the RTS or RTM builds. I would really like to get one going in 6mm brx, but i am a little nervous about getting them to feed reliably from the AI mags.

People are shooting CSS stocked rifles in XC, prone, F Class and even bench rest. I will not be surprised to see more at Tactical matches in the coming season.

Re: What do yall think about this tube gun??

i currently shoot a mak xc for my tac match rifle in 6x47 and love it but i also ordered a eliseo rts for my next build because i like the butt stock alot better. tube guns are really hard to beat when it comes to position shooting which alot of matches require.

so all in all i love them, if you are looking for a mak i will be selling mine as soon as my eliseo gets here.
