I bought a Savage MKII fv-sr today and took the butt plate off out of curiosity. Lots of room, other than am extra magazine and an Otis tube of borecleaner/lube, what should I put in there?

Air. Are you ever gonna be out in the middle of nowhere for extended periods where having crap in the butt stock will really come in that handy or just add extra weight and potentially rattle around?

edt: One this I do put in stocks if there is room when i buy a gun is the receipt. I found a receipt in the stock of a Browning A5 2 that I purchased at a gun show 20+ years ago and was able to track down the original owner and made sure it wasn't stolen.

plastic walmart bags. quiets down the hollow cheap sound.
will also stuff lead shot in a pouch wrapped in side the bags to give it more balance.. the same goes for inside the grip.
