What height rings? Savage MKII - EGW 20MOA

Re: What height rings? Savage MKII - EGW 20MOA

i got away with using low rings on a 40 objective lens so you should be fine with low rings. the egw base raises the scope pretty high up i had plenty of room under my scope. (dont blame me if low rings dont work this is just what worked for me.)

My rings are TPS and they are a quality product.

i bought one of those tasco scopes. opened the box and looked at it, twisted the knobs and noticed the knob was so crooked that as i adjusted it, it was scraping the numbers off the turret. packed it back up and returned it. i wasnt expecting USO or S&B quality but i was hoping for a little better for my 10/22. look it over closely. optics planet had it on sale for $68, free shipping and return if its damaged...

I have the EGW 20moa base on my Savage MkII BV with a WOTAC 4-14x50. I'm using Burris Zee rings that are high, and it's clearly too high, they are a carryover from the old setup. I could go down to Mediums and be ok, I would believe that you could do lows with your OBJ.

I've that exact scope and EGW base on my 93R17 FV and used Weaver mediums (#49196 from Wal Mart), which resulted in .04" clearance over the heavy barrel.

So I'd say, if you have a heavy barrel get rings that are approx. .16"-.17". If your barrel is the smaller diameter, most mfg's lows would be good to go.

Keep in mind, the definition/dimensions of ring height varies a lot across the board from mfg to mfg. One man's low is another man's medium.
