I received this from my grandfather who was in the Merchant Marines. It is very sentimental, but due to being unemployed with a family I need to know the name of this artifact and what it is worth so I can try to sell it. I know the wood is hand carved and was made in India. The steel that the knife and fork is made out of has not tarnished and is so shiny it reflects like a mirror.due to his age beleive it is between 60 and 70 years old. Any info is appreciated and God bless!!

It's a carving set, a rather common bring-back from decades past. It's worth somewhere between $40 and $60, at absolute most, and given that I'd say just hold onto it.

If it is "very sentimental" I would be out busting my ass doing a day labor job on a construction site or pretty much anything else to make money to put food on the table for my family instead of selling off grandpa's stuff and surfing the 'net.

Different priorities/generation or work ethic I guess.
