What is this "orb"? We watched yet another launch this morning and shortly after take off and the rocket leaves into the atmosphere, I'll post the rocket video later, I see this "orb" just hanging in the sky. You can see it at 10 seconds in. I've seen this "orb" before while leaving for work around 4ish am on many non launch morning. It's always in the same location and It's too bright to be a star and it doesn't move. It's not an airplane as, again, it does not move and is much too bright.

Does Venus not move throughout the seasons? It's been there since early Summer.
It does, been dropping lower towards the horizon the last couple months. Was neat a few weeks ago when it and Jupiter were right next to each other, Jupiter has tracked higher and Venus lower to the horizon since.

You can try an app like SkyView that uses your phone’s camera to locate and ID planets, stars and some satellites.

Was that launch from the Brownsville site, where the border patrol might have one of these?

The EFF's tracking site says the one on South San Pedro Island broke loose in March and hasn't been relaunched since. Doesn't mean their info is fully up to date, but it's what's currently available out there.

Having been around those overseas in the past, they don't have a glow to them other than their navigation/collision avoidance lights. The flashing red strobe is pretty hard to mistake as anything else than some sort of aircraft.
