I have a couple of ideas but the length of the tail kinda of throws me, muskrat?

well hell boys, I would go for a shaved beaver, but... it doesn’t look like any shaved beaver I have ever seen, and I have seen a couple.. now as for the kangaroo ... well, depends on the liquor....
I would have said Kangaroo but I'm seeing you're in TN, so that discounts that guess. Are they 6 inch planks on the wall? If so, that's a good sized animal.

River otter is tube shaped. This is a kangaroo.

Tail looks to narrow proportionately to the body to me for the roo I've seen. The tails are actually quite thick in the wild unless this was trimmed a bunch.

After some quick Google fu, I'm leaning Kangaroo.
Muskrat pelts typically don't have tails
Otters are long even body and short more triangular tail.
Wallaby are smaller and are generally short round shape like a plat.

Of the otters I have killed the tail was as long as the body and similar to the picture and been dark brown I don’t think it’s a otter. But have been wrong before
