What is your go to bullet for .223 groups @ 100y

Re: What is your go to bullet for .223 groups @ 100y

Are you shooting a bolt gun or an AR?

68gr Hornady BTHP
69 Sierra BTHP
AR-15 1-7.75 Krieger 20 inch Match Rifle.
IMR 4895 22.5-23.5
Winchester Brass and Winchester primer mag length.
Right about 22.5-23.5.

*Note just because the weight of these 2 bullets are so close don't mistakenly load them the same their bearing surfaces are not identical one has more drag going down the tube than the other.

This is the only one needed at 100 yards

Thanks, I was thinking a flat base may be the better choice. I wont be running these for max velocity, just max accuracy. Any problems with putting the 53smk through a 7 twist barrel?

This seem to be working for the rifle I shoot.
69g Nosler CC bullet
24.5g Varget
Lake City case
Rifle is a factory stock out of the box Savage 10 PC with 1 in 9 twist.

I dont normally either. This will be for the Smack the Smiley match and also a local match on a 100 yard range.

Re: What is your go to bullet for .223 groups @ 100y

I have lost track of how many .223s I own, but the accurate ones want Vmax bullets; 35 gr, 40 gr, 50 gr, and 55 gr. I have not used the 60 gr.

35 gr moly 15 gr Blue Dot is my best 5 shot group at 0.46", but probably averages .75".
The wind is an out of control variable at 100y at my range.
