I have been using old barrels to make my bushings but got to thinking maybe something harder would be better.

What material are yall using?

Does anyone split the bushings and then bore the inside diameter on the mill?

Re: What material for bolt sleeves?

4130 (gun barrels) is some pretty good , 17-4SS would be good , if used in a blued action , it gets a bit sticky in SS.

I always thought that grade 5 titanium would be good as its pretty hard , how are you putting them on?

did your package every show up??

Re: What material for bolt sleeves?

My package did show and it has been getting a lot of use. Thank you. I tried to call a couple of times to thank you.

As far as how I attach them......JBweld.

When are you going to let me plumb one for you? Or at least come use my shop to build one, or at the very least come eat lunch with me and Don.

Re: What material for bolt sleeves?

Man I'd like to but between coaching soccer , work and the gym I hardly have time to do anything.

I just saw Zack sold his Sako 300 win mag.

I'll look around the shop and see what other materials I havce , i thing I have some 4340 in 3/4" and 1" , maybe some other stuff.
