"Best" measured how?
Accuracy?
Energy?
Recoil?
Affordability?
The .260 Rem and 300WM (for example) both have similar ballistics and will get you to 1200. What happens when the bullet gets there is very different however.
Are you punching paper? Or do you need downrange energy? Are you concerned with recurring costs, like $/rd. or barrel life?

Either the 7mm mags with 180 Bergers or the 300WM with the 208/210's will both give you roughly 1200 ft/lbs of energy at 1200 yds. at sea level. That's about equivalent to a .44 mag at muzzle.
I would think anything more would be overkill for that distance.
At that point it's pick your flavor. The 7's boast a little flatter and better wind. Barrel life may be a *little* better on the 300. Less powder in the 7's. 7 vs. 30 has been beaten to death here. You can look at the old threads, but to me it's a toss up.

Desert Tactical SRS or PGW timberwolf or Surgeon Remedy 338L.Any of them would do nicely. It would be hard to beat a 338L with the new Berger 300 grainers.

Care to explain what "put together correctly" means in this case due to IF it is M200 and not a "clone" build then you can only get that rifle a couple ways and its really hard for either of them ways to be wrong in the M200 aspect. I can think of other routes I would take but...Below are the ONLY "together" ways you can get an official M200 but good luck with that..have you called Cheytac lately??
