What is the problem you guys are having? JMHO, but maybe you guys just need to figure out your NPA and work on resetting it for every shot. I shoot my X-Ray 51 .308 (uses a re-worked McMillan A5) in F-T/R trim (off a bipod and rear bag) all the time and have shot pretty well with it in the three F-Class matches I've shot. There are guys shooting against me using F-Open rigs such as 6.5x47s' with flat-bottom stocks off of front rests and heavy rear bags too.
I'm far from an expert, but instead of using the hook, try letting the hook ride on top of the (rear) bag with the butt in the pocket of your shoulder. Depending upon how much I need to elevate the rear in relation to the front, I use either a Red Tac Gear Rear Bag or Tactical Pillow.

I've shot using both the Red Tac Gear Tactical Pillow and it's little brother (the Red Tac Gear Rear Bag). I like the height of the Tactical Pillow, but the compact size of the Rear Bag. (I use the bag <span style="font-style: italic">in front of</span> the hook with either bag, and the Tactical Pillow "crowds" my wrist a bit).

So, you don't think that shooting from his or her NPA will help a shooter shoot more consistently?

If I wasn't using a bag and the butt was riding on my offhand then the hook is a better idea. (JMO) I'll give it a couple of months and If I still feel that way I may think about trading the A5 for an A2, but till then I think I'll try the Triad bag.</div></div>
When you say <span style="font-style: italic">"the Triad bag"</span>, are you referring to the "<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">
Red Tac Gear Tactical Pillow</span></span>" that <span style="font-style: italic">dar</span> linked to, or are you talking about the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">
Triad Tapered Rear Bag</span></span>". Either way, if the A5 isn't working for you, you should definitely try different bags before changing the stock (why spend the money if you can get the A5 to work well for you).
