In trying to use the standard rear bags I have for the rigs I have for longer range shooting (both have stocks with hooks in the heel) I don't have enough adjustment range most times.

What type of rear bags are recommended for stocks with heel hooks on them? -- me and my friend are using bi-pods for the front rest in these instances.

I have the McMillian A5 and the bag I use is the Protektor Dr Bag. Works great. The hook fits right in.
I picked up mine here on the hide unfilled, so I had to buy some filler.
Sinclair has them for around 100.00 bucks. If you shop around you can probably save a bit.

But all in all, I love mine. It has the thick leather bottom so it don't rock side to side. It also has a nice gap between the ears. You can get the ears in either leather or cordura. I have the cordura, but I use a bit of powder for the stock to slide in.

I use the TAB rear bag. When I flip it onto its longest end, it has more than enough for 100 yards. Out past that, muzzle comes up and butt comes down.

OK guys, I will look at some of those, I have a Protektor rear bag, but there just isn't much adjustment before the little bit of stock after the heel hook drops down and then no more adjustment. I will google the TAB Triad and Redman

This is one you just have to work out. It depends on how you shoot and how tall your bipod is. Most of us have two bags and can turn each 3 different ways, giving some 9 different height combinations. Just keep buying bags until you get something that works out right.

I recommend, because bags are relatively cheap, to buy a bunch of them and experiment. I had just a TAB back and it was doing the trick, but I recently picked up a pair of Tacticals and a Tac Ball. I have found that using a combination of bags can be the trick, and it is a benefit to have more than one. If you find that you aren't using all of them, sell off the ones you aren't in the FS forum, they go pretty quick and you won't lose much money.

I've got a couple of the benchrest Bi-Pods from Harris, the lowest one and one that starts at around 6" and extends to maybe 11" or so...

The TRIAD triangle bag looks like it would do the trick, didn't find any in stock anywhere...a trinagle shape like seems like that would be the trick...I'm all about trying several different bags, will definitely do that--the standard rear bags seem to all be made for straight taper stocks like on typical sporters sand of course benchrest guns, the adjustable 'leg' on some stocks, (like the folding TRG stock) seem to make a lot of sense, but I ain't paying $2k plus for a new stock--wish I could just buy the buttstock that would fit a TRG-22 that had an adjustable cheekpiece and a a 'straight taper' on the underside--no need for a heel hook for my purposes!
