Is this a good precision rifle for the money or are there better rifles in the $2000 price range?
A lot depends on what you want a Precision Rifle for. The Cross is kinda a light weight rifle, sorta a hunting/target/plinking rifle.
Does the vagueness of my last sentence give you a good understanding of the Cross. Its a sorta rifle. Sorta good for this, sorta good for that, sorta good.
However,
If you want a rifle for Precision Rifle shooting, at your price point, any of the “production rifles” selling mostly for the 2500 dollar range, some more some less, but by the rules all must be under $3000.00 all are much, much better rifles for this endeavor.
For a hunting/plinking rifle, there rifles such as the Ruger American Hunter, Bergara B14 and others.
For strictly a hunting rifle, that is good out to long ranges, multiple rifles exist that are more traditionally styled.
So, the real question is, For what use is expected for your prospective purchase?
