Rifle Scopes what rings will work best for me?

I run the same scopes on a Surgeons 591 short action and another rifle with a trued Remmy long action and use medieum height Badger Ordance rings on both. They are 1.125" or 1-1/8" tall and leave just over 1/8" or so clearance from the 56 mm bell of the scope to the rifle barrels. Just perfect in my book. I've herd some guys go with 1" tall rings but I think these were on smaller or factory coutour barrels. The long action I have has a Krieger # 9 contour barrel and the short action has a Bartlein #7 contour barrel.

One piece base as jasonk said and possibly a +20 MOA version would be good.

Re: what rings will work best for me?

ok I found the Badger medium rings 1.125" ones you were talking about. where is the best place to buy these from? so I guess it would come down between the 1,125 and the 1" rings

I got one set for the first rifle direct from Badger Ordance and I got the second set from my gunsmith for the second rifle.

Re: what rings will work best for me?

ok fredrick so you are running pretty much the same setup? those were the ones I was looking at too 30661 but triad has them for 169 instead of 198

Re: what rings will work best for me?

I run an S&B 5-25x56 which also has a 34mm tube and I use Seekins 1" height rings on a 20 MOA base and they give me plenty of clearence on my M40/M24 contour barrels. If you are running a factory Rem varmint contour they would work fine as well.

Re: what rings will work best for me?

Second what Rob says about the 1" rings. I have a Badger 20 MOA base and their 1" rings mounting a S&B PMII 5-25x x56 on my Rem 5R. About 1/8" of clearence between the barrel and Butler Creek caps.

Re: what rings will work best for me?

I ordered the seekins 20 moa base last night. But it looks like 1" rings are working well for you guys. Well this is bit of an enigma.

Re: what rings will work best for me?

I think it's gonna be a close match between 1" and 1.125" height. I wil have to wait till I get the base and scope in and try to measure out before I can do anything

Re: what rings will work best for me?

Its the standard Rem varmint/sendero/700P contour. It says the low .92 height with that contour but I would go with 1 inch incase you ever rebarrel or put scope on another rifle with heavier barrel contour.

Re: what rings will work best for me?

yea I think I'm leaning toward the 1" now and if they are too short I will go to the 1.125 badger rings. do you guys like the 4/6 type or the 4/4 type?

Re: what rings will work best for me?

ok I think I got it figured out now. the 20moa bases take up the extra 1/4" or so. so if I were using a flat or 0 moa two piece bases I would need the 1.125 rings.. Thanks for the help
