Just asking you people over there what are your recommendations on a semi auto 308. We are very limited in Australia on what we can get but I am looking at importing one from the States. Don't want to spend more then $2500 US dollars for one. Any help is welcome.

FN FAL or the Australian version, the L1a1. The right hand of the free world. No other 308 rifle has been used by so many armies. Not quite as accurate as a AR10, but it just keeps on running.
Just landed a Daniel Defense DD5V3 16" 308 today.
Yeah the import process is complex, but its better than buying a secondhand clapped out gasser off usedguns...
Fittted with a Kahles k16i and Geissele single stage flat trigger, couldn't be happier.
