What shooting mat would you recommend?

What’s your primary use? Are you carrying it from the car to the range, or carrying it a long way to get the FFP (Final Firing Point)?

These things will help guide you to something that fits your needs.

Now, if I need something small, I take an Eberlestock magic carpet, however more likely my TAB as it’s attached to my pack. I consider those both good “field” mats.

If it’s from the car to the range, I have the midway roll up, it’s not bad for what it costs. I have an older Blackhawk padded roll up that’s much more padded that I prefer for long day’s on hard surfaces. I like the looks and features of the Triad roll up mat, but I’ve not bought one.

The other options are the various rifle cases that double as a shooting mat. Again more for field use in but I’ve used them for classes. They tend to be lumpy with all the straps, buckles and attachments.

Going to be mostly from car to range. I was debating the cheaper more budget friendly, Midway Pro Series Competition Shooting mat vs the higher end Cross Tac.

I have the Midway for car to range use and it does that perfectly well, it has tabs for loading the bipod and has enough padding for my use. It may not be the most compact but it does what it needs to.

I have a midway mat and have no complaints.

I also have this cabelas padded shooting mat that I use more than the midway mat. It’s just a little thicker in the padding and has a strap for your bipod to load against at the very end. So I can use the whole mat.

TAB Gear is always my go to place for bags, mats, and all that.

I have the shooting mat and a rear bag and the stuff is awesome.

Tab Gear if size/ weight matter.

CrossTac if you want something to double as a full comfort bed.

I bought a US Peacekeeper which is similar (should have bought CrossTac) but I only ever find myself using the Tab Gear mat, even on concrete.

The only reason I would use the full thickness pad is if insulation from cold is a concern.
