I waiting on a build to return from a smith and want to order a Pelican or Storm case in the meantime.

I was wondering what size I should get. My build has a A-5 Stock, 26" #7 Bartlien barrel w/ FTE Brake, Rem700 L/A.

Would the iM3300 or Pelican 1750 be o.k.?

I should of asked the smith to measure it for me the last time i talked to him but I figure plenty of you guys on the Hide got your 26" bbl setup in a hard case.

If you have a pic w/ a 26" bbl in a hard case it would help me out if you could post it.

Thanks!

Re: What size Hard Case for 26" bbl Rifle?

I use a 52" Starlight case with my 28" 6.5 Creedmoor, which is the longest barrel I have, without a problem. Those cases should work fine.

Unless you have a folding stock on the rifle, you'll need the larger Pelican/Storm/etc. units to fit a rifle with a 26" barrel:

Pelican 1750

Storm iM3300

Longrange,

My 26" barreled Rem 700 SA is 45.75" OAL. That's with a LOP of 13 5/8". Stock is McMicky HTG, should not matter that yours is a A5, as LOP will be what it is. Standard LOP with McMillan is 13.5", and you would know if you ordered longer.

If you have a Rem 700 long action, add a full inch.

Add another inch or so with a FTE brake and it looks like it will just fit.

Somebody here on the Hide has got to have a 26" bbl w/ FTE brake in a Hard Case.
Thats what I would like to see.

Thanks for your pic. It gives me an idea.

Re: What size Hard Case for 26" bbl Rifle?

I have a Stiller Tac 300 (long action) with a 26" barrel. There is a little room to spare with it in a Pelican 1750 (this is without a brake). With a brake, I think it would fit into the 1750, but your buttstock and muzzle brake will be real close to the ends of the case. Don't have the case with me now or I would measure to see how much room is actually left.

IIRC, I have about an inch or a little more room at the butt and muzzle.

Hope this helps.

The Storm im3300 inner dimension length is 50". my Crusader (a5 22" tube) has a lot of room left over. Oh and it's HEAVY so unless you just throw your rifle in the bed of your pickup, I strongly suggest a soft case. Use the Storm when you need to fly.
