Just getting in to long range shooting, now that I can find the target at 600yds:)

Have scoped out a good, safe shooting corridor on my property and want to set targets at 1000yds.

Is there a "standard" size steel target or shape that is usually used on a 1000yd range?

Thanks,

Forest

Depending on your skin of course. A good starter size is standard IPSC size. Can't go wrong with that. If you are hitting the target at will, then you can always reduce the size to about 1 MOA, or 10 inches. Of course, there is still nothing wrong with anything in between.

We have three targets at 1k.. the first is actually two separate 18x24" plates sitting side by side. These get used to most as it helps to have the extra size when learning to read the wind/conditions. Then there is a 12 rounds and if you are doing especially good there is a 6" square. We dont have to paint the 6" very often lol
