Ok, am I missing something here? Recently George Gardner sold a bunch of rifles out of his collection. Also, the dude in TX that has an amazing collection of rare HK rifles is selling off his collection.

I just find it odd that 2 really kick-ass collections are being liquidated so close together.

You've not noticed the economy? That coupled with the fact that the crap economy came on the heels of people making as assload of money equates to lots of goodies that people ar eliquidating.
There's an assload of great top end gear and guns for sale right now, more good shit than I've seen in long time.

Can't say anything about the particulars of the particular collections you refer to, but ine general....

I can't say that i'm seeing anything out of the ordinary on the for sales/gunbroker. If anything, most of the items I usually check for are less represented than typical. Also, i've unloaded a ton of stuff the last few weeks....and got every dollar I asked for (a ton of "buy it now's").

I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but that's what i've seen.

That car was pretty kick ass. I would liquidate in a heartbeat for a 67-69 Camaro equal to that wagon...

On the other side there is a ton of great gear for sale latey. Hell when I was looking to get into my first GAP and didnt want to wait for it one would pop up here and there but I would always miss it. These days though there are tons to be had and the prices arent to shabby.

I'd like to say don't collect guns, but honestly, I probably do have more than I really need. There are a few (like my Garand and my '94AE) that I'd keep whether I was intending to shoot them in the next year or not. Like it or not, sometimes economics make them more valuable as a mortgage payment than as a cabinet queen. In my neck of the woods, things are getting a lot tougher, and will likely go further in that direction before they get better. I'm seeing stuff on the block I never thought I'd ever see again. Add the fact that I'm closing in on year 65, and my hunting guns are probably going to be going to the next generation, bit by bit. These days, fewer things surprise me.
