hey y'all im debating on putting a muzzle brake on my rifle that im about to get built, but i don't want the muzzle brake to effect accuracy. what the best and most accurate muzzle brakes y'all know.

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

The accuracy of a rifle with a muzzle brake is determined more by the quality of the gunsmith who installs the brake, rather than the brake itself.

That being said, I have a Badger Thruster on my 7WSM and it is the most accurate rifle I have besides being the only one with a brake. Often groups less than .25 moa at 100 yards.

SOONERS,

With a handle like that you're letting your mental illness show.

Change it now while you have the chance.

By the way, my son-in-law suffers from the same dementia. He built this:

and he lives in Stillwater, home of the Only State University.

Back to the topic.....

Don't have a lot of experience with muzzle brakes. Had one in the '70s on a Ruger 77V .308. It was a Fabian Brothers DTA Mil-Brake. Sure eliminated muzzle jump. Never lost a sight picture with it.

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

I've got a VAIS break on my LTR. It doesn't seem to have hurt accuracy as compared to what it was before the break was on. I like the VAIS because it is the same diameter as the barrel and doesn't look like a howitzer break on the end of a barrel.

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

I've experienced great accuracy with the APA little bastard brake.

I agree that any quality brake installed by someone qualified will not affect accuracy.

Great question. I speculate that it's not as important as the crown, but it sure can't hurt to treat it kindly...like you do the crown.

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

The Tubb T2K brake is extremely effective brake, but it's also a barrel tuner, simply find a load with the smallest ES/SD with the Tubb screwed all the way on, then screw it out one turn with it canted slightly left and shoot 5 round groups looking for the smallest one, then adjust your seating depth to further shrink the group, I have not seen a rifle that wouldn't shoot fantastic groups using that methods with a Tubb brake on it.

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

I am also trying to decide if I should get a brake for the rifle I am currently building. It is a .308 win on an AICS 1.5 and deciding what / if any muzzle brake I should put on the rifle.

Your post disapoints me. I knew you were going to say your fleshlight. Then you had to let me down.

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

It has more to do with the gunsmith than the break. I like the breaks that vent to the side than the ones that send gas in all directions. i am an avid shooter and shoot alot prone. the brakes that vent down tend to stir up the ground dust and if the wind is wrong you get a face full of dirt and dust. the side venting brakes vent gas to the sides and keep the dirt and dust down better. but with todays breaks they are great. find a good gunsmith and tell him what you want to do with him and see what he thinks

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

Check out the JP Recoil Eliminator. They pretty much cost a bill but work like no other. Just my two cents. BTW You can no longer use the JP in competition as they were creating an unfair advantage.

The most accurate muzzle brake is ArcticLight's mom's vagina. The 70s bush conceals the flash, the big montana lips absorb and suppress concussion and sound, and the juicy cunt trails lubricate and cool the barrel... needless to say, it pleases her much to ride my bullet tube...

The ID of the brake should be slightly larger than the ID of the bore, the bullet should NEVER contact the brake. If the bullet does not contact the brake then any irregularities in the crown of the brake should be irrelevant because the baffles of the brake should have stripped off most of the gasses already.

Re: What the most accurate muzzle brake.

the best is none my daddy always said, tuck your female parts in and pull that trigger. lol

I dont know i would have to say is it depends on the caliber, the charge and how it was instaled
