Besides putting a new chamber in an old barrel, what is every one doing with their old barrel worn barrel? I hurts so bad to invest so much time and money into a critical pice of a rifle, just to throw it away.

Get some tennis racket grip tape and you have a batton
You can make chamber gauges, shoulder bump gauges, muzzle devices, practice breach ends on the lathe, make reloading dies, etc...

From everything I've read, the first thing to fail is the throat, and that the rifling remains usable long after the throat is not.

Sell them on AR15.com? A barrel that is starting to shoot fliers at 600 has a lot of 100 yard life in it for short range shooters. A lot of Service Rifle shooters sell them cheap with a round count on them. My last upper was demoted to a 100 yard matches after 3500 rounds, it has a couple thousand more on it now. The only reason I quit shooting it was I went to a scoped rifle.
How well does it hold an edge? That's a cool way to repurpose a barrel for sure. Might be the excuse I need to get a forge and an anvil lol

The fucked up thing with blowguns is they're classified as a prohib item in Canada. Some bureaucrat somewhere probably watched one too many movies about rainforest cannibals or something.
Old barrels are Commie hard steel. Hard to cut in half lengthwise, but forge easily enough, then stock removal. Dont know what steel variety it is, but it'll get sharp. Even when tempered, it'll break before it bends very far, so not perfect for blades. Pretty tough stuff. Cheap and easy to get. Lots of old barrel pieces out there for next to nothing. I say go for it.
Yeah, but if you found an effective way to use an old tire, you might consider repurposing it.
How much do you get? I called my local steel recycler and they quoted me like 30 cents a pound on stainless. So I'd get about a buck fifty.

I took a Mauser barrel and threaded it to a water hose. nice stream, lots of control and I can leave it in the trough without the livestock chewing it up, which is their favorite pastime for any hose.
I use them for Target holders. They stand up well to hits by bullets.
Thread the chamber to 5/8x24 and they thread together. Third barrel on top has a hole drilled and tapped to 5/8-24 at the center of weight and screws onto the top barrel. Screw 2 barrels together and third on top and stick in ground like a giant T and hang targets from it. Unlike T posts, it withstands bullets (especially pistol) and does not get sharp edges from hits or spall from the Ar500 targets. Unscrews and is easy to transport. The weight of the holder and targets means it can absorb a lot of energy before moving. I grind the chamber of the lower barrel, narrowing it and angling it so it goes into the ground easier.

its so nice to see all they things one might choose to do with a rifle barrel once it is no longer useful as a rifle barrel . absolutely love the post about the one time at band camp lol touché 
A friend of mine wants one of my old barrels to cut up in several sections to turn into tomahawk heads.
Hang on to them for precision perspective re-calibration tools.. There's gonna be a lot of Burn/Loot/Murder...Antifa.....knuckleheads to re-calibrate post-election...regardless of which way it goes. Just sharing for a friend for pondering.
