Gunsmithing What to do with my stock?

So here is my dilemma, I got a new Bell and Carlson Medalist Varmint Stock for my Turkish Mauser 98, but it doesn’t exactly fit. I after buying it I was told the stock only fits the commercial Mausers and not the military ones. I really don’t want to waste a good stock, so do I send it to the gunsmith to fit the stock to the rifle or do I attempt it myself? If I do it I’ll need to widen the barrel channel, and a couple cuts on the bottom side. The red arrows in the pics show some of the areas that need to be cut.

Have a pro gunsmith correctly inlet the stock, it is not that expensive of an undertaking,
and you will be happy with the exact, precise fit that can be acheived by the use of
the proper tools by someone with experience.

How much should I expect to be charged for inleting and bedding? $150 or so?

Yes, right around there. Or a lot of patience and care, and a $2.50 dremel sanding drum.

looks like some minor relieving for the front pad and rear area of the mag box.
I wouldn't use a dremel, that can be disastrous. Minor inletting like that is quick work for a smith.

As long as everything else lines up, that would be easy to DIY. A mill would be best, but if you're good you should be able to make it look factory with a drill press or Dremel.

Done this before. They actually sell little drill press type stands for dremels too.

You don't know yet how much inletting will be required. Once you have clearance where it's touching now (where your arrows are pointing) there's a good chance you'll need inletting around the sides of the bottom metal as well as you slide it in. I would take it to a gunsmith before you make a mess with a Dremel.
