Pops had 2 rem 788s in the back of the safe, both barrels were toast.
Just sent the 22-250 off for a rebarrel in the same caliber.
The other was a 308 and I want to rebarrel it to something different.
I’m thinking about making it a sbr in 8.6blk or 338 arc as they both are short enough to fit in the 788 magazine, but not sure about feeding issues.
One of the SA 7mm cartridges is an option too. I already have a 7saw barrel for my Zeus I really like, but not sure if the bolt compression issues would hold me back. I load it on the hotter side for my Zeus.
Thoughts or other fun ideas? I’m setup to cast, just not sure if there are any other bigbore sub calibers that would work in a 788.
