What to look for in a donor action?

I want to build an M40A1 clone. I've been studying the M40A1 thread but was wondering what I should look for or watch out for while cruising the pawn shops, gun shows etc. looking for a donor rifle. I'm just worried about the action and bolt but am not sure if there are specific things to look for or watch out for.
Thanks,

Are you using a return stock? smear or woodland? I prefer the smear with a 6 digit serial number. Look for flat sided safties and aluminum buttplates. I have three of these built into rifles by TBA but only one resembles an M40A1. It's chambered in 260 though.......Good luck on your build.
