I'm running a REM700 action with the factory trigger adjusted to 2 pounds. I like it ok, but it could definitely stand to be upgraded. I actually like two-stage triggers better. Any suggestions?

I put a Jewell single stage trigger on my FTR rig. It didn't take long to get used to it,I won't go back to a 2-stage again. I left it set at 14 ounces as from the factory,hands down the best trigger I've ever had.

dont own a remington but know a few who do and they also use jewells on their rifles

I've seen too many Jewells break in competition due to pulling out bullets that were soft seated. A kernel of powder got into the trigger and it was over. I use a Kelbly trigger (ounces and no safety).

Haven't started in F-Class yet but my hunting rifle has a Jewell in it and I love it. Will most likely add one to my F-Class rifle when if change triggers.

I'm getting a Defiance Rebel XM (Xtra Mid-Length) action, which is based on the Remington 40X design.

To my knowledge, if it takes a 700 trigger, then yes. Call the folks at Kelbly to find out. I had a list of about 4-5 actions it would fit that came with the trigger. It is not specific to Kelbly actions.

If you don't mind me asking, how much do those triggers typically run for? How do they compare with the GC Jackson (I believe that is what it's called)?

Simple fix...
If you absolutely have to load your bullets tight into the throat (jam), to remove a loaded round rotate the bolt and then point the muzzle straight up. Pull the bolt back to extract the loaded round. All the powder will remain in the case if the bullet is pulled out of the neck.

Yep, that will work as long as the match director allows that as a method to clear your rifle. These people were in the middle of a match and had to clear their rifle. If a kernel of powder causes this failure, I really can't trust it. I will also not soft seat due to this problem.
I don't want to put down Jewell triggers as I think they are still great triggers. If you keep it clean and do not soft seat, you probably will get LOTS of life out of the trigger.
The Kelbly is designed mostly for Kelbly actions and you may have to modify a pin (instructions included with the trigger) by shortening it. It is the pin that you move to control the weight range you want to set your trigger for. I believe they sell for about $235. The only issue I have experienced with this trigger is that if you don't pull straight back like you should, it drags and I can feel it. That has given me feedback on my trigger control and actually helped me.

As you can see from the pic, the trigger can be adjusted front and back, and if you want it can be rolled clockwise or counterclockwise. 4-10 ounces. I have trouble finding a comfortable spot on my (curved) Jewel, plus the edges are machined sharp, and my finger does NOT rest on it naturally inside the curve. I am actually thinking about selling the jewel and getting another one of these.

Jewell H.V.B.R. on my FTR Gun. Have a Timmney on some of my hunting rifles and like them also. They don't go as low as the Jewell either. Mine is set at 14 oz.
