title says it all. What head is on your tripod? I assume most if not all are running some kind of ball head.

RRS TA-3 leveling base with lever clamp, for both optics and for the rifle.
RRS Universal Leveling Base. Very stable and locks up very tight. 15° of tilt in every direction, which is plenty for 99% of situations.
The first one is the leveling base that fits in the tripod apex.

The second one is the Universal leveling base mentioned in your quote.

With most leveling bases you can opt for having a flat base on top, or a quick release mount.
So you can use the leveling bases without also requiring a ball head? Would yall happen to have pictures of the components broken down in an order than I could tell how they assemble? Because from what I can tell just by browsing images it looks like a ball head would mount on top of the base rather than the rifle to just the base. And if one could eliminate the ball head entirely thats like 25% cheaper and in central/south texas there arent any mountains necessitating extreme angles that a ball head would serve.
I'm assuming that the lever clamp versions eliminate the 3/8 thread attachment but the RRS website isnt loading any images for me when I click on the clamp stuff.
Sorry about the website, we are trying to fix photo and link issues.
Yes the ta-u-lc will directly screw in to the platform base that comes with all our tripods, as well as the ballheads will.
In the 3 series tripod that platform with the thread on top comes out and the Ta-3-lc leveling base will mount in its place.
