So, I would like to open a discussion around my Sig Sauer M400, and have it be a open discussion about good, poor, excellent, holy-crap-what-was-he-thinking accessories to put on it, as well as scope/sight suggestions, as well as suppressor suggestions.

As with most things, my first concern is always performance. I am not into looks or anything like that, I like function over form.

I do like the idea of a suppressor (there was a guy at my range that had one on his rifle, and it made it sound like a .22 being fired), so suggestions there are welcome to.

Anyone who thinks highly of a particular vendor or piece of equipment, please chime in! I am open-minded about this as I have been concentrating on my 700 SPS more recently, but I would like to start making modifications to my M400 as well.

Thank you to all in advance for your advice and wisdom.

First thing I would do would be to rip off that Magpul hand guard and pop a DD rail on there. Then I would upgrade the standard trigger to a Geissele SSA........You will then have a usable weapon. After that, you need to specify what you will be using it for, that will help you in your choice of optics and accessories.

Yeah, I wanted to pull that first, but wanted a good replacement.

I am just going to use this as a range gun, 100-200 yards at most. (well, and home protection of course)

For that setup, because you want it to be usable in a home defense situation, a EOtech 512 would be my optic of choice, I really like the speed and simplicity of it, while still being functional out to 3 or 400 yds at the range. The one drawback to the EOtech is the battery life, I usually get only 900 hours out of mine, so if you don't like switching batteries you might want to go with a Aimpoint T1, which has a battery life of 50,000, and its also a very nice optic. For any weapon devoted to HD, a light is a must, I would suggest the surefire M620C scoutlight. It comes with a QD mount and a pressure switch for your future quad-rail. That pretty much covers all the necessary upgrades, the finer details need to be worked out by just going out and actually shooting it, then you will develop your own preferences.

Have fun :)

Thank you very much for that information!
