So the other day I was driving to a coyote hunting spot and I find a new gate across the road. As I was turning around I noticed a post on the other side of the gate with a bright reflection on it. I looked a little closer and found that it was a camera pointed right at the gate. I got to looking around and saw a tower a couple hundred yards up the road with several more camera's pointed in all directions.
This area is about 20 minutes outside of town in a very steep hilly area.
Did I find a pot farm?

Is it BLM land? DFG? Private land? Can be a whole lot of reasons.

Including a pot farm

Until you can dig up more information, we won't really know. Any Govt camera emplacements are usually pretty hidden. I know it is hard to spot them on the road closures, but they are there. I have found them (near John Day OR). They use them to enforce the road closures.
If they were that easy to see, I would guess someone is doing a wildlife study or usage study. Since the gate is new, and didn't have a notice posted, I suggest calling the BLM. A lot of Forest Service roads have been closed but almost always have a notice on them. Haven't heard of BLM roads closed near here yet. If the gate isn't locked, go on through, and close it behind you.

Ya I guess I should go for a drive and see what I find. Last summer there was big pot farm bust just north of here and they had camera's thats the reason I thought pot farm.

Might want to ask the locals.
I've seen loggers and dozers not make it to old steam engines.
I'm sure the road is good enough for a stock trailer full of Shank's girls.
Visible is meant to be seen.

Damn, sounds like a good place to run a little recon from another point of entry. Drive away after you make it real obvious you are sayin 'aw shit' wait a few days, then recon the site from one of it's flanks. I would also be wary of camera emplacements on the flanks, but basic curiosity would fuel a little fun. Oh yeah,make sure you are kitted up for that too, like the latest totally railed AR with tons of shit hangin off it, all the Hide labeled camo and boots. Can't be too sure what you may find yanno!
